Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. So we secured our all our other cats in different rooms and left the front door open ( it was the one she escaped from). When it started getting dark and quiet out she came right back in the door. I had heard of others being successful doing this and thought it was worth a try, and luckily it worked!!

Babies hide in drawers, then can get trapped behind dressers. Will hide in cupboards and closets. Use flashlight to look. We had one tear the material on a box spring and hid entering from under the bed.

You may have already, but post on Eugene and Springfield Lost pets fb page. Mention location, cross streets. Also Next Door for non FB folks, go online and file report with Greenhill Humane Society. I found my girl knocking on neighbors doors. 🐾🙏🏻🐈‍⬛

Cats usually don't travel very far—-maybe a block or two. They hide under homes or sheds during the day time. Go outside with a flashlight, especially at night and look under porches, house, sheds and nearby bushes. Think like a cat— look low, under shrubs, behind wood piles, and look for their eyes to glow in the light of a flashlight beam. Put their bedding outside the door they escaped from or some of the owner's dirty clothing. Do not put out litter box as they could attract other animals that may scare off your cat. Usually they will hide during the day and come out at night when it's quiet and safe. Leave the door or window they escaped from open and they will usually sneak back in. Leaving a trail of chicken broth or tuna juice from the yard back to the door helps too. Put flyers up within a two block radius. Ask neighbors to check in sheds and under porches.
