How did you lose him? Is he microchipped or wearing a collar with contact information? Please get a cat trap from the shelter or animal control as soon as possible. Set it out near your house. Put really smelly food lke tuna that your cat would like at the back of the cage. Put a dark tarp or a small throw blanket over the cage to protect the cat from the weather, and it also helps them feel calmer and safer once inside the cage. Your cat is going to be very afraid and disoriented and won't come out to anybody. It's best to set the cage out starting at dusk and into dawn and keep setting it out until your cat goes in it. You didn't say how long he's been missing, such as the date.
