The late night walk with a torch is how many have found their lost cats - please start doing this asap. Also and distributing flyers, doorknocking. Also check cctv in the area. 🐱 LOST CAT- HELPFUL TIPS 🐱 ‼️ Start searching immediately ‼️ 🚨 Update microchip as lost/missing 🚨 https://www.petregistry.olg.nsw.gov.au 👚 Put a piece of your worn clothing and pets blanket/bedding outside. 🐠 Leave food out for your cat at the exit point. Do this every night, no matter where you think your kitty is. 🏠 Check garages, sheds, under cars and under houses & ask your neighbours to do the same 👀 Thoroughly check inside your house- cupboards, drawers, dryers/washing machines, linen baskets, inside lounges, under beds etc. 🌳 Check nearby trees and roofs (kitty might be stuck) 🔦 Get a torch and search outside at night 🍗 When searching take their favourite food (eg bbq chicken, tuna) and tap the can/shake the bag whatever they associate with ‘food time’ while calling out their name. ⛔️ Create a poster with a clear image of your cat with large text ‘LOST CAT’ and your contact number. Put these around your neighbourhood, shopping centres, vets, bus stops, train stations, major intersections, schools etc. Drop this poster into your neighbours mailboxes. Post this on your local community Facebook pages. 👋Doorknock the area & show your neighbours a picture of your cat and ask them to keep an eye out. 📞 Call local vets in your area to see if your cat has been handed in 🚶‍♀️ Go in person to the RSPCA regularly- do not rely on a phone call as they are overwhelmed with animals and may miss yours 🐶 If you have a dog take them on a walk and get them to bark - the familiar scent and sound can help guide kitty home 🔦 Search nearby drains, bushes, empty lots, cemeteries, parks etc (preferably at night- take someone with you for your safety) -Your kitty might be able to hear you but will probably not respond if it is scared and/or injured. -Most cats break cover at the two week mark because of hunger and thirst and will start to become more visible. This is when most sightings happen. You will not get calls if you have not put posters up in your neighbourhood. -If you are not looking for your cat and not leaving food out for it – it will start to wander further and further away from the exit point to look for a food source. -If you have moved house or if your inside cat has escaped it is probably still very close to the exit point. -If you see your cat and cannot catch them, try a humane cat trap. Watch youtube clips on how to set the trap, then set it in your yard or somewhere safe away from the public. Cats are most active at dusk and dawn. Make sure to check the trap regularly (every 20 minutes or so, DO NOT leave the trap unattended for long periods of time). -People will tear down your posters (cat haters, council workers, other posters etc.) Go for a walk every few days and replace your posters. Good luck & don’t give up!

Also leave door ajar if it is safe to do so as sometimes they will return themselves… make up little flyers and put them in peoples mailboxes to check their sheds as some people don’t have social media🤞🤞
