The first 24 hours of searching for a dog are the most critical. Usually, they are somewhere in the neighborhood 7 to 10 blocks in any direction. Please do not stop searching. My husband and I are seniors but about three years ago we stayed outside looking in the freezing cold month of February. We never came home from noon until 2:30 AM when we found our dog. Thankfully, she was OK more than likely just running in and out of buildings and behind houses probably chasing rabbits or squirrels. There are so many dangers out there for an unchaperoned dog. Consider using a squeaky ball to squeak as you are searching as sometimes this will bring them out of hiding. Once you find your dog, please get a tracker for the collar. A tracker will allow you to track them, but will not protect them from all of the dangers that are out there for an unchaperoned dog. So mainly you want to fix all escape zones. Once a dog learns to escape, they will keep trying to do it. I like to think that we are smarter than even the best escape artist. I will keep you in my prayers and best of luck that you find your fur baby. FYI. Don't knock it till you do your research but you can also hire a drone company. There are ones that use drones to search for lost pets. They use a heating sensor and cameras. They are super good at what they do. You can Google companies that uses drones online and read reviews and success rates to decide which one to go with. It doesn't hurt to give them a phone call. I've heard it's not that expensive and sometimes they even do pro bono. If it were my dog, I would definitely give them a call.
