So what I found out really works finding your pets are: 1. Post as many flyers as possible, aim for 30+ throughout the area. People pass the same spots daily (walk, run, bike, etc..), and repeated exposure keeps the dog top of mind. A dog lost for over a month have been found this way. From talking to people, putting up a lot of flyers seems to be the most effective ways to finding their pet. I know it takes effort and time to print and put up flyers, but I have seen this to be the most effective ways to finding lost pets. 2. Put your unwashed clothes (with your scent) outside in areas you cat can hide. And visit those area regularly.

Contact the police to report the theft of your cat. Also contact Animal Services, 815-319-4100, to report the theft and who you suspect took your cat. The officers are on duty daily from 7 am-midnight. Leave a message for the officer on your side of the river. They call you back on a private “No ID” number. Also, please post the photo of your cat and your contact number on Nextdoor to help more people find him and reach out to you who may not be using Facebook.

Try Going out late at night ie midnight and again early am ie 5 or 6 am with their smelly food and treats. Shake treat bag and call out their name. Take a flashlight and check under porches and bushes. Also if you can leave a basement window and garage door open so they can get in. Do for multiple days if needed. Good luck. Kitties don’t usually go far from home

I would add your phone number so that nobody has to get in the middle of whoever the other people are and your business. If they took your cat without your permission you need to call the police and file a report.
