Not everyone knows about Nextdoor, but it’s a start. Maximize your exposure by using the following suggestions. Post on PawBoost & Facebook lost/found groups & Petco Love Lost (HHHS-Helping Hands Humane Society partners with supposedly) & PetFbi & all Topeka animal lovers and lost&found Facebook groups & AKC Reunite & HomeAgain PetRescuers. Go to the HHHS in person everyday and look. Ask them to put you on their HHHS lost&found Facebook site. If (s)he is microchipped, contact all microchip companies he is registered with and tell them (s)he is lost. They'll put it on their network and pages. For the following, you only need to send ONE email. Highlight the entire email list, copy it, and paste into the “To:” line of your email. The list was current May 2023. There may be additions and changes since then, such as the newer “Kitten Rescue.” Google is your friend if you want to check for more. Email every vet and rescue/shelter with date missing, pic, description, location, contact info, and everything pertinent. On PawBoost & Petco Love Lost, you can generate a flyer. Walk your area and ask for sightings from all your neighbors. Post it all over the place, especially where you get sightings from your neighbors. That's how I found my 17 year old cat last year when he got out a door that blew open in the wind and went walk-about for 4 days. The sightings were correct and he decided he was done wandering and just found a cat-lover's front porch to "chill" on. She found me on PawBoost and Facebook and texted me saying, "I think I have your cat." Her daughter wanted to keep him, of course, but mom knew better. Good luck. cats@topekacat.org,cc@crittercareoftopeka.com,HappyTailsAnimalRescue@hotmail.com,lee@harleesangels.com,helpinghands@hhhstopeka.org,sue_schuler@hillspet.com,topekacommunitycatfix@gmail.com,midwestkittenco@gmail.com,info@savingdeathrowdogs.com,bigdogs@cox.net,tncummins@aol.com,kcbulldogrescue@hotmail.com, office@gage-animalhospital.com,contact@brahvet.com,info@companion-animal.com,records@stonehousevet.com,staff@universityvetcare.com,pawprintsanimalhospital@yahoo.com,mountainvetclinic@gmail.com,potwinpet526@hotmail.com,shawneeanimalhospitaltopeka@gmail.com,westportanimalclinic@gmail.com,vmshoftopeka@aol.com Good Luck!

Here's a few suggestions that might help. As soon as your dog has gone missing start looking for it right away for long as you can. If it’s a small dog, check inside your home throughly. Leave your garage door open slightly with its dog bed just inside the door. Put an unwashed article of clothing outside or something with a familiar scent. (Preferably hang it so the wind can carry the scent). Focus your search during times when your neighborhood or communities are quieter- dusk and dawn. If you have another dog you might take it with you. Call animal control and file a missing report at the shelter with pic. Pass out flyers to all veterinarians, and mail carriers. Keep In mind that not everyone is on Facebook. Text your neighbors and friends and asked them to share. Notify microchip company. Post on all local sites with contact information and location. Pass out flyers. Hang large neon posters with contact information large enough to be seen from a car. Focus on areas that have food and water sources. Fast food restaurants seem to be a magnet for them. Some seem to follow or hang around railroad tracks. Be sure to check under porches, in garages, sheds, window wells, ditches. etc. Never assume the dog will come to you. If spotted, Do Not Chase or Call it. While searching the last known area, shake their food dish or a bag such as a chip bag. ◦
