Message from Owner

PENNY IS STILL MISSING - SENIOR CAT LOST IN TGS - lost in the alley directly behind Meskerem Ethiopian restaurant on south grand. Could be anywhere within this area. Please I need help searching at night when it is cooler. She is 17, very friendly but probably very scared. She is an INDOOR cat and has no idea of her surroundings outside. She responds to Churus and names "Penny" and "Ping Pong". shaking treats saying "treat" or "churu" in a high pitched voice can help. She is not skiddish but freezes. She will not bite if you pick her up. Please GRAB HER if you see her and call since she is elderly she will need medical care immediately after and I can pick her up. PLEASE everyone this is my baby girl.

Place your cat litter pan outside the door where she lives. She will smell it. Leave her pee or poop in there. The way it was she will find her way home

If Your Kitty is normally an INSIDE cat... then he/she is definitely scared and hiding and you will need to go out at NIGHT with a flashlight and look for her/his “glowing” eyes. She/he is VERY CLOSE to your home most likely in YOUR OWN “yard”. Indoor cats usually find a hiding spot very quickly and very close to where they escaped. Look up in the trees and check under everything in YOUR “YARD” first… under decks, bushes, wood piles and sheds. Then check your neighbors “yards”. They are very good at hiding. THE BEST TIME TO FIND Him/her IS AT NIGHT WITH A FLASHLIGHT AND HER/HIS EYES WILL “GLOW” BACK AT YOU. He/she is so scared, she/he will NOT respond to you calling, so you'll have to use your eyes instead of your ears to find her/him. When normally inside cats are suddenly outside, they go into "survival mode" and their entire personality changes. They will NOT wander. They find a hiding spot very close by and are very scared and will not come out for anyone... even their owners. I hope you find your fur-baby very soon!

Wanted to share these tips to help find a lost pet. Another social media is Craigslist. Check and post under their community section of lost and found area. Their are some people like the elderly who choose not to be on facebook. Others are taking a break from facebook. Also any lost pets websites for your area. The ones we know of here in Central Iowa are: www.IowaPetAlert.com www.PawBoost.com AHeinz57 Missing Mutts (facebook) AHeinz57 Lost Cats (facebook) Lost Dogs Iowa (facebook) www.NextDoor.com Missing Pets (facebook) Put flyers around and let vet clinics around your area know. Go daily to your local shelters and check. Don't call your shelters. Here in Central Iowa our local HyVee grocery stores, Casey's gas stations,Tractor Supply and Ace Hardware have community bulletin boards for flyers. Those in smaller communities check with your Post Office if you can put a flyer up there as well. Be sure to alert your local mailman, delivery drivers, bus drivers and garbage collectors. They are in the neighborhood daily and may spot your pet. Call your local animal control to see if they have pick him/her up and which shelter they took him/her to. If you have a garage put his/her food, water, and a box (or live trap if you have one) with some of YOUR unwashed t-shirts with your scent on them in it for him/her. Note those who have lost a cat DO NOT put out the litter box as predators will pick up your cat scent and will stay close by waiting for your cat as their meal. Ask your neighbors to check their security cameras, garages, sheds and to look under their deck. If you or you know somebody that has a drone that can help assist you in finding your lost pet also. Our prayers for the family.
