Red eared sliders are not native to Colorado, they are an invasive species due to people releasing pets. They take resources and territory away from native species like western painted turtles. Found in the wild does not equal belonging there. Hope they find permanent placement somewhere for it.

This appears to be a Western Painted Turtle, which is native to our state, and likely not someone’s pet. I recommend contacting a wildlife rehabbed to confirm and help with the re-release. Https://www.corhs.org is one you might try.
