Thank you for caring and sharing! Please follow these steps to see if the kitty has a home! 💜 1. Get the kitty checked for a microchip*. Any vet clinic, animal control office (if your county has one), and some pet stores (call first) will do this free of charge! Ingham County Animal Control has a list of places with microchip scanners on their website. 💜 2. Report the kitty as found to the county animal control office. You can call your Animal Control office 24/7 and leave a message. If the kitty was found in Ingham County, Animal Control has an online form available to fill out. 💜 3. Take a couple of pictures of the kitty and post the kitty in local lost and found pet Facebook groups. Make sure you include the location where the kitty was found (cross streets and city) at the top of your post. In addition, it's suggested to also: 💜Cross post on lost and found pet groups here on FB. 💜Post on Nextdoor and Pawboost, too. Not everyone is on FB. 💜Hang "Found" posters at local businesses, vet clinics, your mailbox, and on utility poles. 💜Knock on doors. Again, not everyone is on FB. Ask neighbors to check with others in your area, too. *If you do not have the resources to take the kitty to be checked for a chip, please include that on your post in the Lost and Found FB group posts. There are people in the community who have chip scanners! They might be able to come to you and scan the kitty! Updated August 2026
