Message from Owner

While Ember was being transferred to his adoptive home, he managed to escape from his carrier. He was last seen near 50th & Pine. He has come such a long way since his rescue, and both his foster and his adopter are absolutely devastated that he’s missing. Traps were set immediately, but it appears Ember has hunkered down and is hiding nearby. Since he hasn’t lived outdoors since the winter, and this is quite a distance from where he was originally rescued, we believe he’s likely staying close to where he escaped. Please keep an eye out for him. Check garages, sheds, under porches and outdoor steps, bushes, behind air conditioning units, under decks, and any other small, quiet hiding places. If you see Ember, please do not chase him. Instead, send us a DM or text us immediately with the exact location, time, and direction he was traveling, if any. Even the smallest sighting could help bring him safely home. Please share this post with anyone in the West Philadelphia area. Let’s get Ember home. 🐾

Rent or borrow a humane trap. The SPCA and other animal shelters rent them out for $100. When you return the trap you get your $100 back. Place the trap near where the cat escaped. Put some of the cat's favorite food and treats inside of the trap along with an article of your clothing with your scent on it. This method worked for me on two different occasions. If you trap the wrong cat or some other animal, put a blanket over the trap leaving the door exposed. Stand behind the trap and release the animal. Reset the trap. Time is of the essence so do this asap. Good luck and God bless.

Lost Cat Cats do not go far especially if indoor cats. Don't wait long to search!... close to home late at night and early in the AM when it's quiet and call your kitty and listen carefully. Ask ALL neighbors to please open their sheds and garages, this is important! Make a report with the police and Animal Control. Go around and show neighbors pictures of your cat. Use social media especially lost and found Facebook site. Pawboost helps! Go to Animal Control in person frequently because they are super busy and your kitty may be overlooked. 🙏 🙏 for you and your kitty.

Sharing your post. Meanwhile he is likely close by. Indoor cats hole up in the nearest place that feels safe, under or behind things, shrubs, decks, window wells. A humane trap with smelly food (and if possible a camera) could be a big help. Put your unwashed clothes out by your doors. (People will tell you to put out his litterbox - don’t do that, it can attract predators.) Tell your neighbors to check cameras and keep an eye out. Go out at night and call softly, shaking a recognizable treat bag or toy. Consider a laser toy light or flashlight to draw the cat’s attention. Best wishes.
