Krista Marie then they should have said that. Although, a very well known fact for a few years now, that dogs are being stolen. Do not leave them in unlocked cars or even in your own yard unsupervised. Save the heartache and just don't do it.

Marcia Placzek because people are leaving dogs in the cars. It’s a cruel world today! Don’t ever leave animals alone in cars!! Sorry!

If the store isn't being helpful, social media can be a powerful tool to encourage them to release any relevant footage. Let's keep sharing and help bring Ruthie home! 🐾🌟

LOST/STOLEN DOG: ACT FAST. Contact microchip company to update your contact info and to report dog lost or stolen. Scour the neighborhood, looking in window wells, under houses, open sheds or garages, by lakes and parks. Widen your search each day. Always take a flashlight, bottle of water (and small bowl) leash and collar/harness or slip lead (the kind used at vets offices) ), very fragrant (smelly) food. (Hot fried chicken, Mc D plain cheese burger work well, or dog treats), your dogs favorite toy or blanket. DO NOT CHASE. Dogs can quickly go into a feral state while trying to survive on the streets. Visit dog parks and other places dogs and owners are known to exercise/walk. Even if a photo sent to you or posted doesn't look exactly like your dog, do NOT pass on seeing the dog in person, at a neutral public location. Photos and time out can really effect a dogs appearance. In addition to flyers, post in your front yard or large window that can easily be seen by drivers and pedestrians a large neon colored poster board with LOST DOG, description and Large photo and your contact email. Yes, email. That way, you will avoid calls from scammers looking to extort you. Create a new Gmail or other free account just to be used for this. Your phone number is ok but can cause significant issues for you with horrible people trying to make a buck. You could also get a prepaid or throw away phone and seperate phone number just for this. Do not meet anyone at your home or a secluded location. Do not send $ to anyone until you confirm dog is actually in their possession and only at exchange time, preferably at a police station parking lot. Post pet on Lost/found pets sites such as : Pawboost.com helpinglostpets.com petharbor.com petfbi.com lostdogsillinois.org illinoislostandfoundpets.com, nextdoor.com Check out Craigslist and other towns FB pages for a found dog or someone selling a dog. Flea markets and garage sales as well. I would start with a 50 mile radius. I also suggest contacting local police departments, Animal Control, shelters, rescues and vets offices., even sending them the flyer lostdogsillinois.org helps you make. If you see a dog posted on a rescue, shelter or open access shelter/ animal control website or FB page, that resemble your dog in any way - go see it in person. Do not rely on description of or breed of dog. At times, they are incorrect.
