MISSING CAT My 2 y/o DSH, two different colored eyes, short tail, docked left ear, ran out of my door on North Street in Grafton 20 minutes ago. Responds to “Mer” (pronounced “Mare) and is taught to come to with tongue clicks. She is very food motivated. Is chipped and registered to me but does not wear a collar.

Indoor cats hunker down nearby, probably within a block of your home. Outdoor cats expand their territory over time. Keep calling her from home. She can probably hear you but is afraid to come out. Then she knows where to head back. Especially at night when it is quiet out. Search all spaces at night (under sheds, behind wood piles) with a flashlight at night. Her eyes will reflect the light back. Leave her blanket or bed (Not her catbox) outside where she exited. Rattle the spoon against the cat food can (or make whatever noise she associates with being fed). Also search your house for any small space she could be stuck in. Put up lots of posters on your block and a few blocks around and ask people to call if they spot her. Friend found her cat who had fallen out a window right outside her house in a bush they had searched 3 times. They are good hiders. If you can, leave the door or window she went out open.
