Message from Owner

Our girl and her sister managed to escape through a window screen while we were at work on 8/27. Fortunately her sister stayed by the window, but our very nervous Pepper must have been startled and bolted. We’ve been searching the neighborhood, taking out treats and food, leaving dirty laundry in boxes and baskets for her to find and hopefully curl up in, but nothing has worked. We haven’t given up on her yet! She’s very nervous, slow to trust, and an expert at hiding, so we’re hoping that she’s just holed up somewhere for her own safety. We’re hoping to have her back home before our little man notices that she’s not just hiding this time, and before it starts getting cold enough outside to be worried sick all winter. Please, if you think you see her, help us get her back home safely! She’s very skittish, so please approach carefully or share sightings!

Shouting at night til dawn is seriously helpful to give the cat hope. I've had to do it multiple times in the past. A couple times, two different times were with 2 different adult, spayed, females. They both were gone over two weeks. I know they heard me if they were stuck somewhere! Also, a boy cat was misplaced by ppl for 13 months! Plz do not lose hope for humanity, but regard this as a serious matter! I've been seeing scary ppl online, on FB, who make and run: Lost and found, in many groups. They make Rehoming pets, Free pets, FB groups so that they can do their animal abuse in private and block anyone who calls them out in order to tell the others not to give them their animals (cats, dogs, and more). They also go to shelters. They collect them for profit, and terrorize them to death. Women are doing this tragic business. Plz understand I am serious! They are im this group too! Women, one named Amanda Wideman, and others, all have direct links to dog-fighters. They use cats for it. They drive between Chicago and Detroit for it. They are also in the Michigan homes for pets FB group, lost n founds, and especially free pets groups. And, pray ppl are kind, bc seriously bad things are happening to the poor souls, such as in Washington. Please go all around and make it known to everyone. Cats can go up to possibly 20 miles per day, if scared and hungry. Another cat could be threatening. Also, ppl are CONSTANTLY locking cats in garages, barns, and traps!

Check all rescues, shelters, humane society & animal control IN PERSON! Posters everywhere and in front of home; let neighbors know & ask for help! 🙏

Go door to door in your neighborhood & ask neighbors to check garages, sheds, under stairs etc., etc. anywhere a small animal could be hiding or have gotten trapped.

Walk around calling your cat as you always do. Look under bushes and in hiding places. Look at dawn and dusk with a flashlight to catch the glare of your cat's eyes. Leave garage door and lanai partially open if possible. Your cat will try to get back inside ..most likely at night. Use a trap...The only way to find his way home.or to the trap is by smell. Use some of your used clothes, put them outside and around the trap. A friend of mine used her shirt and dragged it through the neighborhood. Her cat found the smell and followed it home. It is all about the smell. You can also cut a shirt of yours into small small pieces and leave a scent trail back to the trap. I read a few days ago that a lady put out a trace with the old litter throughout the neighborhood. It worked. Her cat came home! Use the litter to lead your cat to the trap. Also try to distribute flyers throughout that neighborhood...as many as you can ( 3 miles radius at least). Check shelters in person...don't just call. Put battery operated trail cameras outside. Your cat might show up in the middle of the night. When you know the time you can wait for for your cat and slow blink to make contact. NEVER GIVE UP! I read once that you can put a chair outside and cover it up with a blanket and the cat can jump up and hide under the blanket and feels safe. They said you should put one of your shirts under the blanket and food and water next to the chair. It might be worth a try to put up a chair

All the above advice + Make sure you go to the shelters, animal control, humane societies & every rescue you can think of in person and check for your dog or cat as often as you can. Don’t rely on just calling to check for them. The shelters are understaffed and overwhelmed; they may not recognize your dog or cat from a description over the phone. Also, put up flers & post on Love of ouie, Pawboost next door, Ring App, etc., etc
