When my boy went missing for three days, my vet told me to make a scent trail for him. He said, put out his favorite bedding, toy, litter box cleaned out or not, preferably all in a fenced yard or in the garage with the door up just enough for him to get in. He also said to put out a used pillowcase of the owner and some of the owners old shoes. He said cats hide during the day and sleep. Cats are nocturnal so expect him to come home when it’s dark. He was right. My cat came back at 3:30 in the morning.
