Message from Owner

** LOST CAT** Tree Lane neighbors in Wilseyville . Our fur baby Sonny got out on September 19th and hasn’t come home. He usually comes right back if this happens. He knows how to open the screen door… He is orange and white and one years old. He is fixed and chipped. He has a white spot on his back where all his orange is. He might be scared of new people but he’s a sweetheart and a lap cat. Please , if you have seen him or have him . We miss him dearly and he is our family. We will post flyers and knock on the neighbors doors and call the shelters/vets.

We have tried so many methods. We think he got skunked because he was with our other cat and she smelled like skunk, our porch and the stray cat did as well. Our other cat Melody came back the next day around 1pm but not Sonny. Sonny has been gone since Friday. We’re hoping he is just scared and hiding .

Time is of the essence. Cats don’t go far from home. Don’t wait for social media to bring your cat home, you need to be proactive. Knock on neighbors doors ASAP with a picture asking them to be on the look out or have seen your kitty. Ask if they will check Ring for any sightings. Leave the door/window the kitty exited from open 24/7. If unable, then crack garage door open 24/7 enough to get in. Hang worn clothes and/or your pillow case in a tree or on top of shrubs to create a scent trail. Post signs with kitty’s picture as many as possible, include surrounding neighborhoods. Go out late at night with a flashlight, shaking a bag of food, calling kitty’s name, looking under shrubs for their shining eyes. Post on Ring, Nextdoor and check shelters. Don’t give up. 💕

General Information: Indoor cats are usually close to home. They are afraid of all the new unfamiliar noises they hear outside and are probably hiding. First - Check any and all hiding places in your home - closets, under side of mattress. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NOT A CAT BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.
