Description

Black cat, a bit chunky

Message from Owner

Blackie went missing from our home on Oct 18 and we're desperate to bring him home. He's a 4-year-old neutered male, black, a bit chunky, and not microchipped. He was best friends with his 20-year-old cat companion, who recently past, and he's been through so much already. Blackie is very sweet with other cats but extremely scared of people. He will NOT come when called. If you see him, please don't chase him. Sit quietly nearby, toss some food, and call us right away. Check garages, sheds, under decks, and crawl spaces, since scared cats hide close to home. Please share. Any sighting helps, even a maybe. Call or text. Thank you so much.

The only way a lost cat can find its way home is with its nose. They have to use their sense of smell to get home again. Put anything outside that smells like their territory. Put the pajamas you slept in outside because you probably sweated in them. Put out their food your stinky socks your smelly sneakers anything you can think of that the cat will recognize by smell. Cats usually stay within a five house radius of their own home for up to a week or so sleeping in the bushes during the day and coming out at dusk and dawn. Those are good times to take a walk shaking the treat bag calling out but cats also tend to come out and walk around very late at night. Try to keep a door cracked if you can whether it's the garage or whatever or a window cracked so you can hear them if they call out for you. Put this on all of the neighborhood pages as well as lost and found pets sites. Knock on the neighbors doors and make sure they know you're looking for your cat. Good luck PS cats can smell up to one mile away from their own house. Absolutely no litterbox outside or food. It attracts predators is why. Never give up.

Is his tail cut-off? If yes, why such a distinctive feature is not mentioned in the description. Also, I saw a cat like that at this zip code. I can give the details if the owner replies

❗ Please do this Search your property thoroughly, look in crawl spaces, in, under, behind your shed, under the porch, under the house, under the deck. Post on Nextdoor in Cat Owner's group, and in Lost and Found Pets group, post on Neighbors app, they're both good resources to notify the community you don't need a Ring camera to post on Neighbors. Petcolovelost 24Petconnect are good sources to search and post on, too, they also offer free flyers for download. Many animal shelters and animal control services post their animals on Pawboost Petcolovelost and 24PETCONNECT, but don't rely on online, go into the shelter to look through the cages, bring proof of ownership; Pictures, most recent vet bills
