Here are some good tips people gave me when they found their lost cats: I know this is a lot to read but please read it it will help you find your kitty Don’t wait until your kitty comes home. The most important thing is go out there right away talking to neighbors and ask if you can check their garages and sheds under sheds, under stairs, decks, trees and under bushes and your own backyard, under cars and up trees another cat was found in a garage also check everywhere in your house. Also check in your house in drawers under couches some were found inside the couch behind the fridge and in basement. Cats don’t make a sound when they are scared. your kitty might be locked in somewhere. and putting up posters everywhere even a few streets over and on the end of your drive way with a picture of your cat and your info not everybody is on facebook. . Put a piece of clothing and shoes that you have worn and a cardboard box and food put it outside leave your garage door and basement window open a bit. Have a trail of treats going to your house. Use a toy on a string cats like to play and a laser pointer. Some cats came home between 2 am and 5 am. Take posters with your info to all shelters even outsite your area and vets in person and check them every few days; they may identify a male cat as a female cat at shelters and check kijiji and check and join every facebook site in your area people share and comment on them. Not everybody likes cats and they will not check their sheds and garages nor post lost cats. When cats are scared, they don’t make a sound Check construction sites some cats were found in unfinished basements. recently lost cats were found locked in a shed, a garage, stuck under sheds, decks stairs and crawlspace and couldn’t get out. on a window sill, and in a neighbour's basement, in the attic and in a neighbour's car engine , window wells in empty houses and under cars under tarps one was found locked in a camping trailer one was found in a mattres in the house. Someone found her cat DOWN IN A 5 FOOT DRAIN ON NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY. Some cats get disoriented and can’t find their way home extend your search a few streets over. best times to go look for your cat are dusk or first light. Take a flashlight with you, cats' eyes will reflect back at you. BE CALM ..POSITIVE ..CALL LIKE YOU SEE THEM ..CALL VERY SOFTLY ... CALL OFTEN .. SHAKE TOY TREATS. . Some cats came home between 2 am and 5 am. Some people said the cat came home when the emptied the vacuum cleaner on their lawn. Cats were found between 10 and 20 km away from home please extend your search a few streets over with posters. Some cats were gone for weeks and month and were found so please don’t give up your kitty is out there waiting for you. Also every town has a TNR they feed feral and stray cats find out where they are and check a lot of cats were found at the feeding stations. Good luck I pray your will find your kitty. Is there any places they can get into the ceilings? Or even open vent work? Also check closets or washer/dryer if there is any chance it was left open just a bit. Couches and box springs are another popular place for them to hide. They can be very sneaky! This is what this lady said--- Wow so thanks to everyone advice I literally shook the contents of the vacuum into the air in the backyard softly called her name and sat down shaking some treats 5 mins later I hear a faint meow and she appeared. I now swear by the vacuum at dusk trick. Thank you everyone. Hopefully my neighbors dont think I'm crazy. I've been in their backyards all day. And then shaking the contents of the vacuum into the wind. Lol i cant thank you all enough. A lady said she used my tips and found her kitty under a shed. Another lady made a scent trail with an old smelly tshirts to lure him from the ravine to the front door. This lady said I did the vacuum thing and shook the treats. 3 mins later I heard meowing. Go out around 2AM with smelly food or treats and call softly for him. Have neighbors check sheds and garages. Post lots of signs. Also a good idea to stick notes through your neighbour’s door or mailbox for them to check their properties.

If you’ve lost or found a cat in Toronto please do the following: 1. Thoroughly check your house. The cat may be hiding under furniture or in a closet due to fright. 2. Start looking immediately. Lost cats are usually found within 50 yards of their home. 3. Ask neighbours if you can look for the cat on their property - under decks, etc. 4. Thoroughly search your neighbourhood. The cat is probably hiding close to home and afraid. Cats usually stay near or return to the door they left for a day or two before they wander for food but remember that cats are nocturnal and hide during the daytime. 5. Rent or borrow a live animal trap. Place it near an entrance to your home and bait it with smelly cat food. 6. Persist - keep monitoring the websites suggested below. Cat sometimes can be found in shelters months after they were lost. 7. File a report with Toronto Animal Services - https://www.toronto.ca/data/mls/animals/strayanimals.html and check it daily. 8. Check www.catsinthebag.org and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I for tips on finding a lost cat. 9. Create/Search listings on http://www.helpinglostpets.com/ 10. Post/Search on https://www.reddit.com/r/toronto 11. Check Pet Find Toronto: https://www.facebook.com/SearchSpecialists 12. Check Pawboost: https://www.pawboost.com/ - for suggestions and sample posters. 13. Do not use Instagram Pet Search. There are reported scammers who will take a fee, do nothing, and block you. 14. Get colour posters made and put them up immediately in a 5-10 block radius of your home. Include building and construction sites, and have your phone number visibly on the poster. Post them on community and local store notice boards. 15. Walk around a 5-10 block area after dark and bring food and treats. Stop periodically, calling the cat’s name softly. Listen carefully but do NOT make any loud noises or sudden moves. Use a flashlight - cats’ eyes will reflect the light and shine at night. 16. Try to remain inconspicuous and put the food beside you, not in your hand. Rattle a treats bag. 17. Put out his litter box, toys, food and water. Leave some food and water in hidden places near the door overnight and carefully check in the morning for signs he's been there. 18. Rig up a cat shelter with articles of clothing and blankets that smell like home. 19. Notify local vet offices, rescues, shelters (e.g. SPCA) and the microchip company if he's chipped. (Make sure that your contact information is up-to-date with the microchip company.) 20. Alert local feral cat feeders who may spot him searching for food. 21. Check all nearby dark, shaded areas - under bushes, shrubs and trees and places where he can shelter from wind, cold/heat and rain. 22. Check under decks, in window wells and dark corners of nearby porches, yards, garages, sheds and stairwells for places where he could be hiding. Ask neighbours if YOU can check their garages and sheds as your kitty will continue to hide if they check. 23. Thump the hoods and fenders of any cars that have been parked for a while in case he or other small animals are hiding in engine compartments and wheel wells. Ask neighbours to do the same, especially in the winter. Also have neighbours check their ring doorbell and security camera footage. That is how I tracked and found my guy. I hope you find your baby!

Please place its bedding 🛏 outside, along with the owner's unwashed clothing👚👖 front and back door 🚪with a contents of tuna can 🐟 on each entrance, you can leave your garage door a bit open as well. In case it comes in that way. And leaving food there as well...supervise food outdoors. Also vaccumed home 🧹dirt in a stocking hanging it in front and back of home🏡 enterence . You can also add some catnip 🌱in a stocking hanging by your entrances. Show your neighbors 🖼picture of the🐈 cat. 10 houses to the ⬅️ left 10 house🏡 to the right➡️ front ⬆️ and back⬇️ if they spot him to give you a call ☎️ immediately. Also, you can put up a Sign post 🪧with your 🐱📷 picture. In front of your 🏡lawn and to call you or contact you ASAP. Go early ⏰️ in the ☀️morning and shake treats calling the cats name when things are quiet.. Tell neighbors to check their sheds and garage.Just in case it's trapped.. Also, you can install a camera / Baby monitor 📹 to monitor and see & hear if the cat is around your house 🏡. You can even ask your Local Pet 🐱 Animal Shelter to Rent out a Safe Trap and monitor it.. Praying for a soon safe return 🍀 of your kitty 🙏 ❤️🏡🐾

- [ ] The kitty is probably hiding close to home and scared. Call the kitty’s name softly morning noon and night. Late at night. Rattle a treats bag. Put out toys and food and water. Rig up a cat shelter - place articles of clothing and blankets that smell like home in the shelter. Posters work. Make posters and put them up everywhere with your phone number visibly on the poster. Ask for sightings. Don’t give up.

Shared. Note that two days is a long time to a cat, this is longer. If you have not yet done ALL these things, do them now. If you have do them again and go further in your search. Notify Toronto Animal Services and check their website(s) for found cats. Carefully check around your home and property, focusing on small, hidden spots like closets, dresser drawers and hidden nooks and crannies in garages, sheds, basement etc., as cats often hide nearby when scared. Search all nearby shrubs, bushes and trees, window wells, garages and sheds. Ask nearby neighbours to do the same. Alert local vet offices, rescues and shelters. If he's an intact male he may have gone a long way in search of females in heat and have trouble finding his way back home. Alert local feral cat feeders who may spot him searching for food. In case he may still come around. leave his used litter and some food and water in hidden places near the door he left and check this evening. See Pawboost for more ways to find and sample posters. Put a notice in nearby neighbours mailboxes, post on local notices boards, in community centres, churches and schools. Go out after dark bring food and treats, search a 5+ block radius, stop periodically and softly call but do not make any loud noises or sudden moves. Lost cats are terrified and do not recognize their owner as safe.
