LOST CAT ADVICE Tonight when the neighborhood is quiet put their litterbox*, some of your worn clothes, and their favorite food* outside the door the cat went out. Go sit outside that door and softly call them, not frantic calling. Playing a video of a crying kitten may also be useful. Listen for response, they generally don’t go far. When the cat responds try and let them come to you rather than chasing after it. You may have success leaving the door cracked open where the cat can just come in the house on its own or the garage door up a bit where they can come in. Consider buying, borrowing or renting a live trap to place out early mornings just before dawn or late afternoon just before dark. Do not leave trap out unwatched overnight though or out during the heat of the day. Leaving water in a shady spot or two near the doorway is advisable especially in this heat. *If you are in an area that has predators, do not leave the litter box or food out unsupervised as it may attract them. Carefully check inside (closets, cabinets, attic), any outbuildings, garages, attics, vehicles, anywhere that the cat could have entered and gotten closed in. Ask your neighbors to check as well. Create a flyer and post to all neighborhood, city, and lost & found Facebook groups in your area. Make sure all nearby shelters are notified that the cat is missing, provide them with a flyer and your contact information. Go in person daily or frequently as possible to check their recent intakes. Shelters are busy and have a lot of staff members and volunteers in and out daily. The telephone staff may not realize the cat has been brought in. If the cat is microchipped, double check to ensure the microchip registration is current and on a national data base. Hope kitty is home soon! - [ ]

Put on next-door also. Put your dirty socks or etc around corners of your property so she can smell her eat home.

I am not an expert, but after ours went briefly missing I have a few tips to share. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Look in storm drains. Bend down and look, dont assume they can hear you calling for them. Even if you are next to it calling out, they may not hear. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Walk the surrounding areas during quite times of the day, especially in late at night and early mornings. Take treats to shake or cans of food to tap. Cats are most likely to be active and venturing out of hiding during those times. Cats are naturally more active during dusk and dawn, and may be less likely to be seen during the day. Additionally, many cats will attempt to return home within the first week, often in the middle of the night. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Don't put out their litter, but do put out a load of your laundry. Your baby knows your scent. Litter might attract territorial aggressive strays or ferals that might fight or chase away your baby. They won't care about your laundry though. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Tell your neighbors. Ask the delivery people, garbage & recycling people to keep an eye out. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Notify the microchip company and make sure they are still in their system πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Use free online sources like Canva to make flyers to put up. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Contact the local shelters to alert them. They will check the pets that came in and will be on the look out for yours when new ones come in. They also have resources/suggestions, and can loan you traps. **if you use a trap, check it often as raccoons will injure trapped cats. Do not leave it alone over night. ⚠️ Set your alarm to wake up to check it πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Contact the vets in the surrounding area. Someone might take your pet in to see if they have a chip. Leave your info with them just in case someone does. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈReach out to local rescues to alert them. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Register them on websites like Petco Lost Love and PawBoost. One will create a flyer for you to print out and both can be used to share on social media. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Check out websites like 24PetConnection , nextdoor neighbors, and the shelters periodically to see if they have been listed as found. πŸˆβ€β¬›βœ”οΈ Don't give up.
