Please contact the CTTC at tortoise.org if the owner is not found. They need to be permitted before the can be adopted.

I’m sure he belongs to someone. Please check paw boost. Keep checking I’m sure someone will post it lost. In addition, call your shelter fax a flyer over there because someone’s probably calling. Thank you for saving its life. It will need food. Please post on all lost pet sites and nextdoor.com.

Hello, and thank you for looking out for a shelled friend in need. In the event that you are not able to locate the custodian, you have two legal options. One is your local government animal shelter, and the other is the California Turtle & Tortoise Club, Orange County Chapter. This is a native North American Desert Tortoise that requires a Dept of Fish and Wildlife permit, and both the shelter and the CTTC are allowed to hold them. The CTTC actually does the permitting for the Dept of Fish and Wildlife. Of course the best option is that this shelled friend gets home. Brumation season is just around the corner, and it will need to be cared for properly, especially this year with a super El Niño pending. Hope this is helpful. https://tortoise.org/orangecounty/contact.html
