Message from Owner

Our cat Steven went missing near Grant and High st and we are heartbroken and desperate to get him home. He is an adult male neutered cat. He may be frightened and hiding nearby — please check your garages, sheds, under decks, and porches, especially at dusk and dawn. If you spot him, please don't chase — send us a photo and your location so we can come right away. A reward is offered for his safe return. Thank you so much for keeping an eye out for our boy. 🐾

Judy Allen Thank you but i have done all this since day one. I truly think he is being held in by someone. Garage has been cracked for 3 weeks now. Litter box is still outside along with clothes. I continue to search at around sundown and also 3-6 am range. I know he would def come up to me if he saw me forsure. Anyhow thank you for taking the time to write this out! Im still hoping i come home one day and see him sitting on the porch!

If you have a garage, you can raise the door on it a bit and open the door leading from the garage into your home. He may simply walk back into the house. I've known two families that this has worked for. I wouldn't leave the door up when you're not home or at night, however. You can also open a window a bit, let your home's scent get out. It sometimes helps to hang a worn article of your clothing on a fence or tree limb. Get your scent in the air. Cats can smell up to 4 miles. And, you're correct, an indoor cat usually stays very close to home. Walk the area with a friend at night, as late at night as possible (3am is good). Take an open can of tuna or cat food, a plastic spoon, flashlight and a cat carrier. Use the flashlight to check under cars, on roofs of houses and sheds as well as car hoods, porches, etc. Shine the flashlight up in trees and bushes and into culverts. Cats like to hide and sleep in culverts during the day, come out at night to look for food and water. If you find your cat, sit down on the ground and offer some tuna or cat food at arm's length, away from you. Remember your cat may have reverted into survival mode and may be difficult to catch, it may take more than one night of sitting on the ground and feeding him from a spoon. If you are able to catch him, put him immediately into the cat carrier. He may seem calm, then suddenly scratch and bolt from your arms. Survival mode is a funny thing. Good luck to you. Never give up.

They say that they are within a couple blocks from you. Probably hiding. Put out his litter box with poop and urine so he can smell it. Also good smelly food.
