(1) Contain the pet so it is safe from danger and escaping. (2) Scan for microchip (vet, shelters, area pet stores) should do it for free. (3) Notify animal control ITS THE LAW TO DO THIS (file a found report on the Found area do not have to turn in but file ) OWNERS will CHECK there first. If you can’t contain, please ask them to pick up or take to shelter, much safer there than on streets. (4) ADS: Craigslist, www.lostmydoggie.com (free listing) it will send a fax blast to the closest vets, shelters in your area, Facebook (Lost and Found Sites, search ones for your County, your city and states sites like these but there are others: https://www.facebook.com/groups/769692416445474/), and this says dogs but they post all pets) https://www.facebook.com/LostFoundDogs.NC/ Nextdoor.com, (be sure to use the universal option to share pet post everywhere) trianglelostpets.org, pawboost.com, http://petharbor.com/, Petango.com, https://www.helpinglostpets.com/ ring.com https://lost.petcolove.org/?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwwb6lBhBJEiwAbuVUStaAMQw91eOyM2EHdf5S_n490FITFRbDH-F-NO03VgS80KxW3ma1choCFm0QAvD_BwE Newspaper - often free to post found or lost dogs/cats/pets (5) Contact local vets, groomers, pet stores, local rescues (6) Hang & Pass out Flyers, give to mail carrier!
