Tracy O'Berry Thanks. The dog seemed "lost" / disoriented for sure. I felt terrible not being able to do anything.

It was exactly here, standing in the road. A car passing the other direction flashed its lights and that let me know something was up ahead and i slowed to a crawl. The dog walked off the road and looked worried, and walked into the brush. It isn't forest right there, but brush. A car was flying up behind me and passed me going about 70. If I had not been there, I'm afraid the dog would have been hit. It was pitch black and not a lot I could have done to try to get the dog.
