Description

Shih Tzu mix possibly, less than 10lbs, severely matted, white fur underneath the mats

Message from Finder

Found this sweet girl in the road near the DG on Gillsville Hwy in Gainesville last night. She’s incredibly friendly, not emaciated, but severely matted all the way to her skin. Has fleas and is bleeding when she poops. No chip. We’re getting her veterinary care.

The vet didn't advise either way. We cut out most of her mats and had to order some clippers to fully shave her. Flea treatment is working and she's been bathed and is receiving dewormer and probiotics for the blood in her stool. We will likely keep her, but if our dog doesn't warm up to her, we will rehome her (for a fee of what we paid at the vet to weed people out). She's doing so well and is just the sweetest, snugglieset little thing. 7.1lbs :)

I have a dog that looks a lot like this little guy. He was a rescue from Hall County animal shelter. He is a great little buddy.

I have had 3 dogs that I found on the streets. In each instance, due to their lack of care, nails never trimmed, dirty, and where they were found, the vet, a professional advised don't bother trying to return a dog in that condition to whomever allowed it to get to that poor condition. I was advised each time to keep the dog or surrender to local animal control. What is the vet advising please? Matting like that requires weeks. Good luck, bless you and thank you for caring for this dog. I have also had 2 similar to this kid.
