Jacqueline Jaskulek I've seen stranger stories with further distances than that, even in a short period of time. Crazy people/kids will pick up a dog and dump it somewhere. Or people steal them and decide that they don't want them, so they dump them miles away because they don't want to get caught in the neighborhood where they stole it from etc. I'm in many rescue groups here on FB (specifically NY). In my spare time I try and match the lost with the found and vice versa. So far I've matched up 2 dogs and they weren't found just around the corner from their homes. I also found the owner of a beautiful bird that I rescued myself. The bird flew 7 miles before it landed (injured) in my driveway. I appreciate your question, but there are many reasons that things like this might happen.
