We have continuously changed out the clothes that we put outside, so the scent is nice and fresh. For a couple of hours each night we put out stinky food and then bring it back in, always leaving water out there. We opened all the windows to the house today so that the house smell could get outside for him. We scoured the neighborhood on many occasions and handed out flyers to all of our neighbors. We posted on social media. I have sat outside at 3:30 in the morning, softly calling his name. We bought Ring cameras for the front and the back. I find it really hard to believe he’s close by. We contacted the APF and our vet. What else can we do? He’s still not home. This is day 6.

Damien Christopher thank you so much! I had no idea I’ve read so many times to put the stinky food and litter box outside, but I didn’t think about it attracting predators. We will change that immediately.

The only way a lost cat can find its way home is with its nose. They have to use their sense of smell to get home again. Put anything outside that smells like their territory. Put the pajamas you slept in outside because you probably sweated in them. Put out their food your stinky socks your smelly sneakers anything you can think of that the cat will recognize by smell. Cats usually stay within a five house radius of their own home for up to a week or so sleeping in the bushes during the day and coming out at dusk and dawn. Those are good times to take a walk shaking the treat bag calling out but cats also tend to come out and walk around very late at night. Try to keep a door cracked if you can whether it's the garage or whatever or a window cracked so you can hear them if they call out for you. Put this on all of the neighborhood pages as well as lost and found pets sites. Knock on the neighbors doors and make sure they know you're looking for your cat. Good luck PS cats can smell up to one mile away from their own house. Absolutely no litterbox outside or food. It attracts predators is why. Never give up.

Still no sign of Star. We have his litter box out and some of our clothes. Smelly food and a mouse he likes to play with. Please keep watching and listening for him. ❤️❤️

Please keep your eyes and ears open for him. He has a condition that makes him cough periodically and a very distinctive cry.
