Message from Owner

Sinja has been missing since early afternoon today. He is the friendliest boy and usually comes for food but never goes outside and is probably very scared. He is known to hide when stressed so please check around your home/garage/porch/cars if you live close by. I am so worried and he is already greatly missed by me and my kids. Please reach out to me if you see him! $ reward.

Immediate Actions (First 1 to 2 Hours) • Check inside first: Make sure the cat isn't still hiding inside a closet, under a bed, or inside a piece of furniture. • Search nearby tight spots: Look on your hands and knees with a bright flashlight (even during the day) under porches, decks, bushes, woodpiles, crawl spaces, storm drains, and car wheel wells to catch the reflection of their eyes. • Do not shout their name: Scared indoor cats go into "survival mode" and will often hide in complete silence, even ignoring their owner. Shouting or running can make them bolt. • Set up a scent anchor: Place the cat’s used litter box and worn family clothing or their bed right outside the door to help guide them back with familiar scents. (Note: Some owners use a tiny trail of high-value wet food or sardines near the door, though avoid leaving large bowls out that attract other animals). Search Strategy at Dawn, Dusk, and Night • Search during quiet hours: Go out between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM or at dusk/dawn when noise and traffic drop and your cat feels safe enough to move. • Use a soft voice: Speak in a quiet, normal feeding-time tone. • If you spot them: Do not charge or reach for them. Sit or lie down on the ground, make yourself small, avoid direct eye contact, and calmly coax them with treats. Expanding the Search (Day 2 and Beyond) • Talk to neighbors: Ask neighbors to check their open garages, sheds, window wells, and under outdoor buildings (cats often sneak in and get locked inside). • Post flyers and digital alerts: Distribute clear photo flyers within a 2-block radius and post on local platforms like Nextdoor, PawBoost, or neighborhood Facebook lost-pet groups. • Contact local resources: File a lost pet report with your local animal shelter, county animal control, and nearby rescue groups. • Set a humane trap: If the cat remains too scared to approach after several days, borrow or set a humane live trap baited with strong-smelling food, monitored closely.
