Message from Owner

My tiny black cat got out while I was in the hosp for intensive care while being taken care of by a friend at her home by mishap on 425 Forge Lane in Exton Pa near the MarchWoodTavern is and her name is Kodak. She is not microchipped unfortunately but spayed and up to date on shots and vaccinated and she’s not an outside cat at all and never has been! I have told her I loved her every day since I’ve had her and I worry because we have a fox that comes around every night. My friend feels sooo awful about it and used to have pets of her own. Kodak does have her claws though. Shes very therapeutic to me because I have a lot of chronic health issues that there’s no cure for. Kodak is all black and very hard to see in the dark and skiddish. She got out in the early afternoon I was told yesterday. Please contact me even if you think you may have saw her somewhere and approx where and when and I’ll look around since the hosp let me out home now and I rushed home. It’s sooo appreciative!!! Kodak has a sibling and thankfully he was napping inside when it occurred and he listens better and isn’t as stubborn but he misses her very much. I came home and walked around through the yard, looked in trees, by our sheds and porch and deck and drove around and asked around for insights and shook food, called her, I’m gonna put some of my personal clothes out that have my scent or blanket out there with my sent on it and her siblings so I hope she comes back and realizes I’m home again and here. I’m trying to get ahold of a trap if anyone has one available to try to get her and set one or two up. Please please spread this post everywhere if possible and I am too! Kodak has no collar on. I’m praying she comes home safe and is okay! I have always been a great pet mom and love them. I feel so bad I had to be in the hosp and way for her for about a week but I really needed to be in there and get the help I needed. Also please know this isn’t a scam of any sort. I have lupus and used to volunteer at a cat rescue and really want her back. She has a very long tail that could almost hit her in the nose when she sways it around when she’s playful but no markings on her really to pick out. I got discharged the same day thankfully and came home and shook food, looked all around and called for her, asked around and drove around but no sight of her. Thank you for any our kindness, Shares, insights or advice or suggestions! I really miss her! 💜❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹💜🐈‍⬛✌🏼

Indoor only cats rarely will show themselves during the daytime & often will not respond to you calling them. So the chances of a neighbor or even you seeing them during the daytime is unfortunately pretty low. They hide close by, then often return during the night to where they got out of your house, & they try to get back in. If your cat is strictly an indoor cat, then if possible, try leaving the exit point open after dark to see if they will walk back in on their own. Having a camera set up outside the exit point is very helpful to alert you if they’re approaching. If you don’t have a camera at the door your cat escaped through, I recommend buying one today or tomorrow at Walmart & get it set up before dark. If you can’t leave the exit point open after dark, then you still need to set a motion activated camera outside the exit point so you will be alerted if your cat returns during the night. Often you’re sleeping & you don’t know that your cat is returning, trying to find a way back inside. If you get a sighting on the camera, then you can set a humane trap outside the exit point the following night & have it ready at dark. Either way, do not go outside once you leave the exit point open OR you’ve set a humane trap. Let the camera do the work of alerting you to movement outside that door. I don’t recommend setting food or a humane trap outside the exit point until you get a sighting on the camera. You don’t want to attract wildlife & other roaming cats, which will prevent your cat from approaching by having food sitting outside the exit point. Wait until you know your cat is returning before setting a humane trap. Your cat probably won’t approach your house if you’re outside walking around either. Secure any other pets in another room if you leave the exit point open. Place some of your worn clothes outside the exit point for scent & just inside the door. Do not put the litter box outside as it will attract other neighborhood cats who will prevent your cat from returning. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lC_-Dqmx2sU&pp=0gcJCWQCo7VqN5tD&ra=m

How far away is your location from where the kitty was staying when you were in the hospital?

It sounds like you are doing all the right things. Continue to put your personal items outside for Kodak to pick up your scent. Does your friend live near you? If not, then put some of your personal items outside of your friend’s house also. Additionally, go outside right before dawn when it’s still dark and shake some treats while quietly calling her name. If your friend is far from you, then she should do this too. Please also be cautious of scammers that will reach out to try and take your money. Do not give anyone any money or believe them when they say they have your kitty and need money for vet bills or whatever. Ignore “helpful comments” about a rescue that “really helped me recently”. Most likely a scam. I hope Kodak comes home soon. Keep us posted.
