I would put his cage full of food and water outside with door open, when he gets hungry enough he may recognize it and go in. My green Ringneck Parrot came to us when he flew into my yard & tried to get into our cockteals cage, we opened the door & he climbed in. He was flying with a murder of black crows & decided to go back to domestication, so he saw his opportunity & took it. You could also put a few bird feeders outdoors with the food he likes. Please keep us posted. He may have joined a flock of free ranging parrots.

As much as I understand the loss of a pet, I don't think birds should be kept in a cage, they should be free to fly wherever they want

Sometimes, birds who are accustomed to living with humans, will land on a person and go home with him or her.
