Maya is a 4 year old female (spayed) who was lost while Kayaking on the Swatara Creek. She has no collar and is not microchipped. She is a sweet and friendly girl, who is food motivated.

one person he trusts should go back after dark to where you last saw him, sit down with a carrier & start talking to him in your normal voice to see if you hear him respond. Others can wait quietly in the vehicle. Your cat is likely hunkered down there hiding, very frightened. They may respond to you, but they may not. If you can do this for a couple nights in a row, that would be good because hunger may make him respond to you a few nights later. If they don’t respond to you, have a flashlight with you & start looking under places where a cat could hide, under sheds, porches, decks, bushes, etc. If you still don’t have any luck, then you really need to get humane traps set up around there at night when they’re most likely to venture from their hiding place but you want to monitor the traps, so that may mean sitting in your vehicle with the window down enough that you’ll hear the trap go off. They likely won’t respond to you or come out during the day. Your best chance is in the middle of the night. Take a cat carrier with you & if you see them, do not chase them or stand up. Sit down & try to coax them to come to you by having some tuna with you. The smaller you appear, the less intimidating you are. Taking some of your dirty laundry with you for scent isn’t a bad idea either. Once you set traps, you can place fresh dirty laundry next to them. Motion activated game/trail cameras can be very helpful for sightings. If there are buildings around there with outdoor security cameras, you definitely want to work with them for sightings. Make flyers & put one on the front door of every house & business using blue painter’s tape (so it doesn’t leave a mark), with your contact information & at least one photo of your cat. Ask people to check their outside security cameras, especially after dark for sightings & to not attempt to catch your cat if they see it. They should simply note the time & exact location of where they see it so you can then set a humane trap there with their permission.
