Very skinny seemingly young German shepherd

Message from Finder

My husband found this dog while doing tree work deep in the woods. In the Townsend, Wears Valley area. He is skiddish but friendly. VERY skinny. Been in the woods a long time from the looks of it. We will be taking him to see if he has a microchip but also sharing here in the meantime

I'd take him in a heartbeat if my landlord would allow it. Thanks for being kind to him.

Emily Harvey-Bice That's not it. He has latched onto your husband because he trusted him enough to come to him and now that he's trusted a human he is attaching to him. Shepherd's have to have a person, mine did the same to only one shelter guy. Dogs can travel miles and miles over a period of time, he could be from another county and just got lost and ended up deep in the woods. I'm sure the post spreads out far enough maybe his owners are still looking for him. Tell your husband thank you he did a wonderful deed, and someone made sure he was there at the right time.😇

He's probably better off with a new home and not going back where he came from.

Jill Cable he is not chipped. But he also knows basic commands like sit and stay. So I don’t know what happened. I’m guessing he was dumped because he is extremely anxious over my husband leaving.

Jill Cable so where my husband found him was about 8 minutes from there. He was up in the woods about 25 acres of just woods where my husband was doing tree work for a customer. It took two days for him to get used to my husband and his employee. When they went to leave that night he followed my husband to the road but it still took them 25 minutes to get him in a truck. I am so sad that he’s been out there that long.

I'm so very glad you got him off the road. He would not come to me even though I had food - I posted on a Townsend FB page about him on Aug 5 that he was going to get hit on Wears Valley Rd and Rudd Hollow. No one knew who he belonged to. He ran up the driveway to the church and house.
