Lori N Eddie Whitaker , That would do it they hate the carrier .. soon as mine hear that door open they are gone .. Best way to do that is leave the carrier out so they get use to seeing it and it's not new to them or have it out a couple days before .. and feed them or give treats in it .. day of don't try to put them in face first .. put them in rear end first .. hand under their belly other hand in the front of their chest .. or sit the carrier on end and drop them end .. then they don't have much chance of grabbing hold of the doorway .. he is scared now and thinks that he will see the cage again and he may have caught scent of a female in heat .. Can you have your door ajar in late evening near dark if he is near he may come back in on his own .. with no carrier in sight .. just try to act like nothing happened .. got a pen light if you see him .. just some ideas hope something may work !

Dianne Banton no, we found him in January of 2022. He has been an indoor cat since we’ve had him. He has slipped out the front door before but he always stays in front at a Rose bush & he’s always came straight to me with no problems at all. He was frightened the morning he got away. My husband was trying to put him in a carrier to take him to be fixed, microchipped, shots, etc… and he did not like that carrier (never been in one before) he fought to not be put in it & he got away. We found him under a deck within a few minutes but he was literally unreachable. He stayed under the deck all day long but wouldn’t come to either of us. I stayed outside with/near him all day until about 9:30 that night & I had to go inside. I came back out at 10:20 that night and he was gone…😞
