I'm so sorry about your baby.🥺💔 Most cats stay close to home so it is critical to stay as proactive, and persistent, as possible. ●Crack your garage door or leave a porch door open so it can get inside. Cats return at night when you're sleeping so you miss them. This also ensures if your cat was chased away, it can sneak back inside when it can. ●Check everywhere outside even in drain pipes and drains, in logs, under bushes and cars, up in trees and anywhere it's collar could get hung. ●Use a flashlight after dark as it will make your cat's eyes glow. ●Check under your house and your neighbor's houses, in sheds, garages, basements, etc. ●Indoor-only or new to the area lost cats tend to not recognize their owners outside because it is a different environment and they are scared. Sit outside every single day especially in the morning and at dusk/night so your cat can get used to you being there. ●Put food in a plastic container with a lid and periodically shake it and call your cat's name. ●Print flyers for neighbors and businesses in the area. ●Put posters in public areas, like on street signs and in your front yard, and offer some type of reward, if you can. ●Put the reward amount on the flyers and posters. A reward will incite people to intentionally be on the lookout for your cat or to return it to you. ●Work with a cat rescue to immediately set a cat trap or you can purchase one at Tractor Supply, Home Depot or on Amazon and set it yourself. You will need to monitor the trap(s) ●Post on the Ring app, on Nextdoor, and Pawboost and visit pet rescues/shelters in person regularly to see if someone has found your cat and has taken it to one. Give them a flyer and report your cat as missing. ●Consistently visit rescues and shelters. They only hold a cat 3 to 5 days before putting it up for adoption. Even if the cat has a microchip, the chip can float and be missed by the scanner. ●Set notification alerts for the Facebook lost and found pets groups in case someone has found your cat.

Go around late at night calling them with food and flashlight to catch their eyes. Check around your neighborhood under houses and in small places where they may hide. Put stuff out that has yours and their scent on it. Mainly their litter box and sprinkle their used litter around the yard as they'll recognize the smell and it'll deter other animals from coming around. Hang flyers around for people to see. Check shelters and vets daily. Update chip info if they have a chip and its has not been update since a move. Ask neighbors to check in their garages incase they ended up trapped in one and to check their cameras in case they appeared on them to get a sense of direction they could be. I pray you get your baby back safe and soon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2eCoC63B9I Here's a great YouTube video with helpful advice. If it’s an inside-only cat, chances are that it didn’t go far. Think of every place close by your home where your kitty could be hiding, go out at night with a flashlight calling his or her name, and even if the cat is too scared to come out to you, its eyes will pop right out in a dark space with the flashlight shining into them. Usually, they will hide during the day and come out at night when it's quiet and safe. Leave the door or window they escaped from open and they may sneak back in. When my daughter's dog got lost, we made up 100 flyers with his picture and three of us fanned out and handed out flyers to every home and business within a mile or so radius, as well as tacking them up on poster boards. Within three hours we got a call from someone with a flyer in hand and our pup was back home safely. Everyone with a flyer in hand has your phone number at the ready to call you if they see your lost cat. This works! Be sure to include on the flyer asking folks to check their outbuildings, as lost cats may go into an open door to find a place to hide, then get shut in. Consider setting up a humane trap. These traps can be purchased at local hardware stores or borrowed from animal shelters. If you catch a different animal, simply release it and reset the trap. Make sure you cover the trap with an old towel or blanket so the trapped animal will never be subjected to direct sunlight or rain. Be sure to check the trap frequently and let someone know you have a trap set just in case something happens to you. If you find your kitty, please consider getting a gps tracking collar for your pet, as well as putting an ID tag on his/her collar (PetSmart has machines that make these), and get a microchip in case it gets out again. I just bought four gps collars for my cats, $18 per collar on Amazon, and they work great! My prayers are with you!
