Get it to a no shelter at least. It’s doubtful you’ll find the owner. Most likely abandoned or dumped. It’s very common. Share on other NJ animal rescue pages. This is more of a rescue situation.

Please be really careful, don’t give to anyone who cannot show you any kind of ownership papers. If you have taken the cat in, please see if it is spayed/neutered and if it has a chip. It could be someone’s indoor outdoor pet, notify the shelters and the local vets if it is fixed. Please be really careful. Don’t give it to anyone who cannot prove that it is their cat, we know have some crazy people can be.

Can you bring kitty inside to safety, food and water and then take to a vet to scan for chip? The vet may also recognize the kitty and be able to contact its owners. Check with other local vets as well and contact the police. Also post fliers. And beware of bad actors!!! Also keep checking Nextdoor and Pawboost for cats found in and near your zip code.
