Message from Owner

My little boy ran away and hasn't returned. He has never done anything like this before, and I'm filled with dread not knowing whether he's okay. He has been the most precious thing in my life and losing him pains me more than I could ever hope to describe. Please help me try to get him back home.

Please put some of his used litter in a small container outside on the balcony for him to smell and reorient himself home. If you don’t have any used litter left, please put some of your old used clothing, with your smell on them, or anything of his with his smell on them, outside on the balcony, for the same reason. If there is a window he can jump into, leave that open for him. Check the sheds and garages in the area. Cats generally don’t tend to go too far. When it gets dark outside, go outside on the balcony and shake his favorite box of treats while calling out his name for several minutes. Do this every half hour or so for several hours every evening (and between 2 and 4 a.m.). Do it at the same place every evening so that he can orient himself towards your home. Put out posters with his picture and info around the neighborhood. Call the veterinarians in the area and bring some posters to them. Sometimes people bring strays there to see if they are chipped. Call the city and find out where they bring strays they find. Go in PERSON to the SPCA and Berger Blanc. Also check on their websites. Calling them IS NOT enough. You have to go in PERSON and often. Check the posts on Pawboost as well. People post animals they have found. Hope this helps. Hope he comes home soon.

Open a Lost Cat Report with the SPCA via spca.com His photo will then be posted on the SPCA site. Save his soiled cat litter box. Sprinkle some of his soiled litter on the side of your stairs, and on the earth of the shrubs that you share with immediate neighbors. You can also put some on aluminum foil sheets , cup them and place in the bushes on your property. Save some soiled litter to repeat this tip should it rain. the familiar scent will attract him. Follow up daily with Proanima as well. If he has a microchip, notify the microchip company.

These steps must be done right away and must be done everyday 🙏 Very important to put up flyers in and around the area (for people not on FB). Even place them inside mailboxes. Place a bit of his soiled litter outside, not the full litter box (sheltered from the rain, so not to get it wet). But leave it out only during the day, do not leave it outside when it gets dark and not overnight. It may attract other animals. You should also place a blanket or a piece of clothing with his scent on it outside as well. He may be able to smell his own scent and find his way home 🤞 Put out his food and a water bowl, in the same place everyday. You want him to stay close by. But don’t leave the food out when it’s dark, bring it back inside. If possible, leave an exit door or window opened so your cat can get back inside (while keeping other cats in the house safe in a closed room). You need to go out looking for him early mornings and late nights, calling his name and bring his favorite treats. He must be scared and hiding close by. But don’t walk too far from your home, you don’t want him to follow the sound of your voice and be that much further away from home. You want him to stay close by 🤞 Tell neighbors to look out for him, to check under and inside their sheds, garages, under balconies, etc…and check inside their pools I would strongly suggest to ask your neighbours if you can go in their backyards and check for your cat yourself. Someone lost their cat and found her weeks later stuck inside a Cabano, not alive. And someone recently found her lost cat drowned in a neighbour’s pool 😔 You should open a missing cat file with the Montreal SPCA and with ProAnima Montreal. If your cat is found and brought there, they will contact you. Also, join Petluck Group and post him on that group as well: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Petluck/?ref=share
