Mark Fecteau and you have absolutely no idea how much experience I have, nor how long ago I adopted the cat. So keep your crappy comments to yourself when you don't know the details. Sometimes things happen, no matter how much you try to avoid them and the last thing anyone needs when they are dealing with the stress of an animal who has wandered away is for people to say things like "That's great you just adopted a cat and you lost it already" I obviously didn't send her out of my house purposely, and I was concerned and frantically trying to find her. So save your comments for the echo chamber of your own head next time.

Becca Hunderfund-Livas and when you first adopt a cat it's good to put them in a room by themselves and keep them contained for a while at least a couple weeks until they start getting used to their new environment sometimes it takes a little longer a lot of people think you can just bring an animal home and just let it go in your house meanwhile you have no idea what this animal's been through or where it came from so it's up to you to do the right thing you know I get tired of people in their lost animals because it's people like me that find them and hopefully return them to where they came from or in the worst case scenario we have to pick them up and have them euthanized or disposed of because they've been killed by a car or a predator have you ever seen what a cat looks like after it's been eaten by a coyote they leave most of the body and they just eat the innards it's not a very nice site sometimes you'll only find half of an animal or maybe a leg how many times have you encountered that you want to talk about rescue I can tell you some horror stories about animals and the things that have happened to them because of humans like a dog that I rescued in Detroit that some sick person had pulled gasoline or something on it and set it on fire the dog was still alive walking the streets with half of its fresh gone and Bone actually exposed because the meat was completely burned off and it was being eaten alive by maggots you want to talk about rescue fortunately I found this poor animal there was nothing to do for it except take it to the vet and have it euthanized

Becca Hunderfund-Livas excuse me I've been involved with rescue for 30 years I'm a Trapper I rescue animals I help people find your lost pets I'm involved with TNR and I brought in many animals off the streets and if an animal's getting lost on your watch your responsible a lot of these animals that are getting adopted by people out of shelters and rescues we don't know their stories and what they've been through and when you go into adopt a pet it's your responsibility to keep them safe and part of that is not letting them outside and when you bring a new animal home you have to be extra careful especially when you're opening doors you make sure that the cat isn't going to slip out you don't let yourself get outsmarted by an animal that isn't as smart as you and if you have children you let them know that they have to be responsible too you don't stand there with the door open and stuff like that I have grandchildren and I taught them to be responsible when they were little kids before they even went to school my little granddaughter's never let an animal out of my house ever when they were walking in and out of the door which they do a lot so if a young child can be responsible and careful so can you now the cat's on the street and hopefully it's found by somebody and not eaten by a coyote or picked up by a predatory bird or run over by a car or killed by some kind of sick human

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO CAT BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

I don't know how to update this post specifically. I updated the pawboost post. We have found her and she's safe and sound at home again! Thank you everyone who was kind and helpful! You're awesome people!

If she is an indoor only cat she will not go far. Usually within a five house radius. She is hiding close by and will be elusive. Walk up and down your neighborhood while shaking your favorite bag of food or treats or whatever brings your kitty running to you at all times of morning , day and night. You may also want to consider using one of those toy laser lights at night to bring your cat out of hiding. Knock on neighbor’s doors and give them a good contact number in case they see her. Very important in case they are stuck in a garage or shed or God forbid even hurt. Not everyone will see your fliers and post. If you have a garage or front door, leave it cracked open just enough for kitty and leave bedding or clothing that has your scent, also leave food and water, but be aware of predators. Remember in most cases, she will be close by, so don’t give up and keep looking. You may want to consider borrowing or buying a humane trap. Be persistent and consistent and most importantly, Don’t Stop Looking! Not all cats will just show up at your door. It took us over a month to get our kitty home with the help of neighbors. God Bless you and your fur babies. Be aware of scammers. They ask for number codes and money.
