Message from Owner
POMONA CA Apollo’s Story ❤️ I got Apollo when he was just 8 weeks old. For the next three years, he was my baby, my best friend, and one of the most important parts of my life. Apollo was there for me through everything. He was my emotional support, my comfort, and the one who loved me unconditionally no matter what I was going through. He loved me more than anything ever has, and I loved him with everything I had. Then my health changed. I had been living in a pet-friendly sober living home in Los Angeles with Apollo when my epilepsy became severe enough that I needed a higher level of hands-on care. Because of that, in November I was moved into a sober living home that was not pet-friendly. I couldn’t keep Apollo with me there. I didn’t give him up because I didn’t want him. I didn’t stop loving him. I asked a friend who lived in Pomona to foster him temporarily while I worked on finding somewhere in Los Angeles where I could live with him again. The agreement was that this would be temporary—that I would get him back as soon as I was able to find a safe place for both of us. My friend agreed. But eventually, I received a message saying he couldn’t keep Apollo anymore. I was told Apollo had been using the bathroom on his bed and that there were other problems too—things that were completely unlike the dog I knew. As time went on, the story about how often Apollo was being let outside and how he was being cared for kept changing. The last time I saw Apollo, something was very wrong. He was flinching when I tried to pet him. He had gotten skinny. And he didn’t seem like himself. He looked unhappy. I was terrified. I begged my friend to give me just another week or two so I could figure something out for Apollo. Instead, I was called names and insulted, and eventually I was told that he couldn’t stay anymore. Because I was living in Los Angeles and dealing with a severe disability, I wasn’t able to immediately take Apollo back myself. That is one of the hardest things I have ever had to live with. I was told that Inland Humane Society picked Apollo up sometime around the middle to late part of January in the Pomona area. At first, I couldn’t bring myself to look at their website. It hurt too much. When I finally did, not long afterward, I couldn’t find him listed. I called and tried to get answers. I was told that I needed an animal ID number, and that if Apollo wasn’t listed, then he had either already been adopted or they didn’t have him. I wasn’t given any more information. And that’s how the search began. I’ve been looking for Apollo for almost a year. I’ve searched and searched, hoping that somehow I’ll recognize his face in a photograph or find a record that tells me where he went. I haven’t found him yet. Apollo is a sweet boy. He is incredibly loving. He deserves to be somewhere safe, loved, happy, and cared for. I don’t know what happened to him after he left the shelter. I don’t know who has him now. I don’t know whether the people who adopted him know how deeply he was loved before they met him. I just want to know that he’s okay. I want to know that he’s safe. I want to know that someone loves him. And if he is happy and being taken care of, I want to know that too. I don’t want anything from whoever may have him. I’m not looking to cause problems or take anything away from anyone. I just want answers. Apollo was my baby for three years. I didn’t abandon him. I didn’t stop loving him. I lost the ability to keep him with me because my disability changed my life in ways I couldn’t control. I’ve spent almost a year trying to find him because I can’t stop wondering where my boy ended up. If Apollo is out there somewhere, I hope he knows that I never stopped loving him. And if someone recognizes him, has seen him, adopted him, fostered him, or knows anything about where he ended up, please reach out. I just want to know that my baby is safe. I miss him with all of me. I just want Apollo home—or, at the very least, to know that he is happy and loved. ❤️
