Have potential owner show proof of ownership, giving identifying information including vet records, pictures, etc. Please be very careful. There are some bad people out there who will try to fool you. They love animals for breeding, ransom or for sadistic purposes such as bait in dog fighting rings (yes, they do sadly exist), target practice, torture. A “free animal” is an easy target. PLEASE be very careful if you cannot contain. Do not just give to anyone. Check State law as to just Rehoming without allow time to find owner.
