📌 TAKEN BY THE HOMELESS They love dogs too, but people with addiction issues and homeless people often pick up runaway pets and use them when panhandling because they make better money with a cute little dog to support their addiction. They tie them up so they can’t get away. They carry them in bags, backpacks, strollers, etc. It’s very difficult to find your dog once it’s scooped up by individuals in this demographic. Flyers for awareness without a reward will not work on this group. 👎 Flyers without reward 👎 Posting without reward ✅ Reward works only if they see it and they are willing, they like the companionship and they can make more money panhandling with a dog.

📌 SKITTISH DOGS RUN THE STREETS Skittish dogs…especially small breeds, German shepherds and huskies. They run and run and run. Very hard to catch. Many eventually are hit by a car. Some manage to hide and stay on the run. This is why it’s so important to have a collar with your number on the back of the neck so even if someone can’t catch your dog, they can still see the # and call you. These dogs are also why it’s super important to post on Neighbors by Ring and stay in the comment section! Not come back hours later. If someone posts they see your dog, you have to get over there ASAP, not reply back 5 hours later. It’s too late by then. Some owners seem to believe they can go after work, after their baby wakes up, after their husband gets home. For many of these individuals their dog is never seen again. Dogs wait for no one. Flyers without a reward oftentimes do not work on these dogs either. These dogs will likely only come to their owner, and the owner needs people in the community commenting on sightings in real time, not hours or days later to catch up with their pet. 👎 Flyers without reward are not going to Garner the same attention that a reward will. 👎 Posting without reward- same 👎 Reward inspires more people to go the extra mile, take the time to contact the owner ASAP which is vital to catching up with your skittish pet.

📌 HIT BY A CAR AND INJURED Arizona Humane - foster home - up for adoption: If your dog is hit by a car and injured- if the police come, they take it to the nearest emergency vet (24-hour usually not the regular ones). The pet is considered a stray and treated, then 2-5 days later, Arizona Humane Society picks up the dog, and it’s processed at the Papago location. THEN it goes into a foster home for recovery, which can be 2 weeks to 12 weeks! THEN it goes back to Papago to be processed and goes up for adoption. Many owners lose their pets in this transition. Flyers for awareness do not work in this situation unless somebody happened to be there when your pet was hit or saw it brought into the vet. 👎 Flyers without reward 👎 Posting without reward 👎 Reward ✅ Posting your pic quickly on next door and neighbors by ring first so you can find your pet before ✅ Calling blue pearl, a v e c c and veg the 24-hour emergency vets to see if any pets matching your description have been brought in, 📌 HIT BY A CAR AND ED If your pet is hit and ed, people often call animal control to pick up. They do not pick up dead animals. They send them to the non-emergency police #. Dispatch sends the info to the sanitation dept, and they contact the contractor to pick up the dead animal. They are supposed to check for a chip. I personally do not believe they scan the animals. (Some are not intact, and it would be a lot more work to have to call all those people back.) When they come and pick up the dead animal, they put it in a bag and at the end of the day take all the bodies to the Glendale Az Landfill to dump. This company has the contract for 9 of the major cities in Arizona. So your pet could be missing 45 miles away and still end up in the Glendale Landfill at the end of the day. Flyers for awareness do not work on this group unless someone was there when your pet was hit or saw it brought into the vet. 👎 Flyers without reward 👎 Posting without reward 👎 Reward ✅ Checking neighbors by ring as well as the next door app to see if anyone has posted a deceased pet ✅ Call non-emergency police department number and ask specifically for the dispatch department. Ask them if any calls have come in near your intersection on the date matching your description of your dog. ✅ Posting your pic quickly on next door and neighbors by ring first so you can find your pet before ✅ Calling blue pearl, a v e c c and veg the 24-hour emergency vets to see if any pets matching your description have been brought in,

📌 FOUND AND KEPT DOGS We have a VERY high number of pets found and kept in the valley. Especially in certain areas like Phoenix and Glendale. Probably around 50%-70% of found small dogs are kept, and to be honest it's probably way higher than that. It's weird that it happens most in Phoenix and Glendale. :( People like to call it “rescuing” the dog, but really, it’s theft. See, pets are considered personal property, and under Arizona state law, you have to do an owner search for several days before you can keep someone else’s pet, or rehome it. Those of you that find pets and keep them are breaking someone’s heart, destroying families and ruin lives. I’m not being dramatic. I’ve been on the phone with owners having panic attacks, chest pains, crying for over an hour on the phone with me, severely depressed… Some even have to go to the emergency room… because you thought it was if it’s free - it must be for ME. YOU ARE NOT A GOOD PERSON IF YOU FIND AND KEEP SOMEONES PET WITHOUT DOING AN OWNER SEARCH. What happened to being a good person and doing the right thing? Do better. Flyers without a reward absolutely DO NOT work on finder keepers / thieves. Most of the time a flyer WITH a reward won’t work on them either, but if might work on their neighbors. THAT is why you put a reward. 👎Flyers without reward 👎Posting without reward ✅Reward if offered immediately

Rachel Padilla Have you ever looked through mcac Urgent and adoptable on Facebook? What about Arizona Humane Society FOUND PETS group? I would look through both all the way back to when your pet went missing. Pretty sure there was a dog there with one eye like this If you haven't offered a reward you need to put that on there I would go back and edit your posts and put it on those or put it in the comments.

Post on the Nextdoor app with the cross streets that she is lost from. Check HALO rescue on Bell and 32nd Street, behind Denny’s. Perhaps someone turned her in there.
