Hello, I have a Russian and he is an escape artist and quite fast...he has a bad leg too. Something that may help is that tortoises tend to travel in circles. So if you go to the last place you saw them, walk in a wide circle. I found mine using this method on a patch of mint. Also on super hot days like today, they will burrow into the soil where it is cool. Hope this helps.
