Message from Owner

He was last seen late last night/early morning when I got from work, he may have slipped out around 4 am. I called for him and looked everywhere but there’s no trace of him. I just want my baby back, this isn’t like him.

Blast social media and send 1 email (bulk delivery) to all the vets and rescues below. List was current May 2023, more rescues opened/closed since. Post on PawBoost & Facebook lost/found groups & Petco Love Lost (HHHSHelping Hands Humane Society partners with supposedly) & PetFbi & all Topeka animal lovers groups & AKC Reunite & HomeAgain PetRescuers. Go to the HHHS in person everyday and look. Ask them to put you on their HHHS lost&found Facebook site. If he is microchipped, contact all microchip companies he is registered with and tell themhe is lost. They'll put it on their network and pages. Email every vet and rescue/shelter with date missing, pic, description, location and everything pertinent. On PawBoost & Petco Love Lost, you can generate a flyer. Walk your area and ask for sightings from all your neighbors. Post it all over the place, especially where you get sightings from your neighbors. That's how I found my 17 year old cat last year when he got out a door that blew open in the wind and went walk-about for 4 days. The sightings were correct and he decided he was done wandering and just found a catlover's front porch to "chill" on. She found me on PawBoost and Facebook and texted me saying, "I think I have your cat." Her daughter wanted to keep him, of course, but mom knew better. Missing cats Missing Cats Hopefully this might help you find your cat~ Know that lost cats are frightened and skittish and will usually hide during daylight hours. Make sure to search the inside of your house throughly. They can hide in unlikely places. Under your bed frames has been a favorite hiding place. Try shaking their cat dish or treat bag. At night they will start looking for home and usually move very slowly exploring areas and looking for familiar sounds or sights. Take a flashlight at night and look under bushes, cars, and in gutters. They tend to move in circles and don’t tend to move quickly or run from home. Another possibility is that they may be near home close to someone’s door, hoping to get inside. Someone’s garage perhaps. Some people have had luck leaving their door cracked open a little, same goes for your garage door. Always personally check your nearest shelter and file a report. Focus your search during times when your neighborhood is quieter. Early mornings (dawn & dusk). Cats will tend to go to more quiet places than busy noisy places, so if there are parks, or wooded lawns, check there. Always take a flashlight even in the daylight. Check under bushes, porches, window wells, up trees, storm drains, UNDER CARS etc. Important!!--- Remember she is probably not very far from home, she is frightened, she is getting more hungry and thirsty as the days go on and will be more motivated to overcome her fear and answer you. Set out stinky food, such as tuna or sardines. If heated every few hours it will enhance the aroma. After a few days setting a baited trap near your house is a good idea. Stay determined, stay hopeful and stay persistent. Some have had luck taking their favorite treats and shaking the can or bag. **Put a piece of clothing outside that has your scent on it (dirty) or a piece of bedding such as a blanket that has its fur on it. *Do not put its litter box outside. It could possibly attract predators. Maybe a pillow case that you have slept on recently. Just recently someone had set a trail of cat nip out, it helped get her cat. DON’T GIVE UP! Pass out flyers to everyone in the area including vet offices. Not everyone is on Facebook. Hang large neon colorful posters with picture and large contact information which can see from a car. Make sure you visit your local shelter to see if anyone has turned it in. Angie Yewell
