Message from Finder

This sweet girl hopped into my van today! She is extremely friendly a little Houdini! Looks like she chewed through her leash! She has a collar and is chipped. Took her into the vet and they called the number on her chip but no answer! I would love to have these sweet girl home with her family!

Katie Lanzon I would regularly call and check in. I found a pup in my yard, took him there, and called daily until I was able to go rescue him. If I hadn't gotten him, it would have been a sad ending for him. He's been part of our family for about a year now and has brought so much love and new energy to our family! 🩵

Melissa Bellows correct! You can see if they aren’t there anymore meaning they have been picked up and then after 5 days they will update her status if she is not picked up. Unfortunately there is not much more that can be done. It is illegal in the state of Florida for anyone to keep a found dog. Especially one chipped to an owner. They are considered someone’s property. This unfortunately is due process. I will be keeping a close eye on her status. That is all that can be done for now.

Kristina Bell You don't see statuses until the stray hold is up.

Melissa Bellows she just miss spoke. Yes I was told 5 days. I told them all the info I had and they seemed concerned enough to investigate it more. They have my info so if in 5 days no one comes for her they will contact me first. If you would like to suggest any other options please feel free to do so! You are able to also see her status and can adopt her in 5 days of it comes down to that and you are concerned.

Katie Lanzon The dog will be on a 5 day hold because she's microchipped, not 3 days. Is that what they told you? That would be incorrect. Also, they lie.

Melissa Bellows unfortunately you are right. We did give them our information if she is not picked up in three days to have them call us. And then we can go from there, but unfortunately, since she is chipped to this person, it’s the only option….

Melissa Bellows yes we told them that. We learned her whole story. And it is a sad one. Hoping that the shelter does the right thing….
