Misty Mendiola You would have had to already had your dog microchipped in order to help locate your dog now. You would have to get your dog microchipped at a vet clinic unless he came from a shelter, or some breeders, who will probably microchip dog before he’s adopted out and provide new owner with microchip information as they would need to register dog under their name. If he was microchipped, then he’d be in a registry as long as you pay the membership which most of them are a lifetime membership. If lost and someone found him, they could take him to any vet clinic and have him scanned for a microchip. The clinic would give the person who found the dog the microchip company’s phone number or they may call for you. The microchip would be linked to owner’s name and contact information. Depending on a person, some people allow the chip company to give out that information so they can call owner, or if they have a privacy hold, then the microchip company will take the finder’s contact information and they will contact the owner by phone and email address.
