He/she won't be far away. Go out at night with flashlight and look for shiny eyes. Leave an opening so he/she can get back into your house. Check nearby (within 3 typical city blocks) sheds, containers, hidey holes, garages. While walking, crinkle treat package. Put up posters for folks in the area who are not on line. A nice neighbor might have let him/her in. Also please do not forget to post to 719 Lost and Found Pets of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Lost Pets Facebook page, Pawboost, the Humane Society, and, very important, Nextdoor (a free app for folks near your house). Finally, go to catsinthebag dot org for ideas on how to find him/her and get him/her back home. At night leave a door or window partially open...Many roam in the dark when it's quiet and some come back into their homes.

General Information: Set up a scent station. Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. NO LITTER BOX OR FOOD. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

***POST NEXTDOOR, RING NEIGHBORHOOD, PETCO LOVE LOST Check ✔️ Humane Society In-Person DAILY. They Keep Pets 5 Days then put up for Adoption. Boots on the ground - Walk ur neighborhood check window wells, under decks, inside bushes, sheds, garages, dumpsters, under staircases. Indoor Cats don't go far, usually close by. Others hide during the day and roam @ night when it's quiet. Shake bag of cat food or treats, walking, calling by name, saying are u hungry, Bring a flashlight, search day & night. Knock on doors. Post Flyer's on neighbor's doors

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. Please post cross streets. Get out calling Kitty's name especially early and late when it's quiet. Search high and low with a flashlight. Put up posters with number large. Enough to be seen while driving. And post on nextdoor. Com
