Message from Owner

Alphonse is very beloved cat, and his family misses him dearly. He is very affectionate, though also his own man. We welcomed our daughter three years ago, and he has been sweetest little guy with her since day one. Looking through pictures to find one to share just tore me to pieces. Our daughter misses her kitty meow! He has been by my side through so much, and our world isn’t complete without him. Please help us bring Alphonse home!

Melinda Leeah Lee we absolutely will. He has always been an escape artist. I did not consider all of the dangers when I agreed to start letting him out. I’m regretting it deeply now. Though this time, he truly did just sneak out on his own.

Kathryn Schlimpert I hope you can keep him inside when he returns. There are way too many risks for cats being outdoors, including those that typically stay close to home. There is a leash law for cats and dogs, so hopefully one of your neighbors turned him into a shelter where you can go get him, as a best case scenario.

Melinda Leeah Lee Thank you. He has gone out before, but usually returns within 10 minutes to an hour. We’re trying everything we can to find him.

If normally an indoor cat, then kitty is likely hiding real close to home. They tend to freeze in place and may not come out if you call their name. They are masters at hiding and squeezing into small spaces. Use a flashlight to look in, under, behind all dark spaces so that their eyes glow. You can do this during the day, but especially at night when things are quieter. Check inside the house as well just in case (dresser drawers, up inside mattress box spring, recliner, sofa, etc). Look up in trees and other high spots in case kitty climbed up to escape another animal. Do NOT put litter box or bedding outside as that can attract other animals/predators. Put some of your dirty laundry/worn clothing outside for the scent. Leave a door cracked open so kitty can get back inside. Set up trail cameras outside and use a humane trap that you can buy at a hardware store or borrow from a rescue. Ask neighbors to check garages and sheds. Hang LOST signs in your area. Post on Nextdoor app, Ring app, Pawboost, area facebook pages, and lost and found facebook pages. Make sure microchip information is accurate. Check local animal shelters in person. Check the 24petconnect website via zip code for intakes and be sure to click on Lost My Pet, select the filter to increase the radius beyond the 10 mile default. Be careful of scammers contacting you about drone services, pet tracking or stories that your pet is at the vet and money is needed.
