Message from Owner

Bubba talks all the time, so my home is disturbingly quiet. I am afraid a bobcat got him, but just in case, I am putting this message out.

~~~Give a copy of the picture with information to the mailman in the area… They encounter many people & situation… Put a sign with information & picture in your front yard if you can & @ stop signs… Someone may have him thinking he was abandoned… Someone may have a camera that captured something… Always get your animal microchipped, it gives a better chance of being reunited… If the dog is microchipped, call the company ASAP … Report you animal missing to your local dog pound… PetCo has free software that uses photo recognition to match your photo to photos from rescues and shelters. Bubba is a beautiful mackerel orange (ginger) tabby cat — I’m sorry he is lost. Is Bubba an escaped indoor cat or allowed outside? His familiarity with the environment will dictate how to find him. Escaped indoor cats usually hide close by but are too frightened to return or respond when called; while a cat that knows his way around may have become stuck somewhere and needs help getting home. I have recovered many lost cats and assisted others so if you tell me about Bubba I can provide complete instructions that may help. Please understand an escaped cat may emerge when it's dark and quiet to sneak back inside — if you do just the right things. This usually happens within the first few nights so until I hear back from you please implement this strategy if Bubba got out accidentally: tonight lay a familiar blanket or worn teeshirt flat on the doorstep — do not use a litter box, bed, trap, or anything conspicuous -- along with tempting food at his point of escape. Call him softly to provide a familiar sound and direction (he won't come on command) then watch from inside (DO NOT GO BACK OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT!) and if you see Bubba approach and settle on the food be careful not to startle him. Slowly and quietly provide a clear path inside and he may put an end to the crisis himself. If you can't wait up set an alarm and watch again just before sunrise -- it's a popular time. And although some will suggest putting out kitty's litter box, experts say DON’T DO IT. I've never used one in all the times I've been successful recovering a lost cat. Please read this to learn more about why it's neither necessary nor recommended: https://www.facebook.com/notes/lost-cats-georgia/why-we-dont-recommend-putting-your-lost-cats-litter-box-outside/1101245526665296/
Cook chicken on the grill. Put catnip outside. Play YouTube videos of kittens crying and shine a laser cat toy around the bushes.
My indoor only male black cat got out once. We put out all the scents. Old blankets, our unwashed clothes, his scratch post, his empty dirty litter box, vacuum dust etc. My nextdoor neighbor would see him trying to return during the day while we were at work. Then get scared and run off into nearby woods. I started setting my alarm for 3am while it was quiet and go out calling him. Finally after 5 days I heard him crying in very thick bushes Nextdoor to our house. I saw his eyes with my flashlight. I had to literally crawl to get him. He was like afraid to move. I finally got him . They usually don’t travel far. They will hunker down close by.
