Description

Black cat, sleek short-haired w a paunch for a belly. He has a long tail like a snake and golden eyes. He has one white whisker on his cheek and one white whisker above his eye. He's long and a bit stocky maybe weighing 15-18 pounds although he may have shed a few pounds since he's been lost. He's approximately 7 1/2 years old, very skittish unless hungry.

Message from Owner

Please help us find our Waffles Bear!!! He is beyond missed by his parents and furbaby siblings, Chicken, Neffie and Koala. We have searched extensively over the course of 7 days and nights, placing fliers of every place he might be or had a possible sighting. We are not complete with him rounding out our furbaby family of 4, him being the youngest. He is an indoor cat, they all are. We recently moved so he's never seen the new apmt in DT Bethesda/Chevy Chase area and is therefore unfamiliar w his immediate surroundings. I am beyond devastated and just want to see my little Waffles Bear curled up in a ball sleeping next to me, my husband or his siblings. I want to hear his crazy loud meow again when he's wanting food or a treat. I want to see him do his "cute begging" when he's hungry and stands on his 2 hind legs. All the cats know he's missing and they are therefore missing a part of theirselves like we are. PLEASE help reunite us all and say prayers for his safe return. I've seen so much compassion and kindness from complete strangers who have come out of the woodwork to help find Waffles each in their own way. None of what I've been able to do would have happened without these people in my life. Some started as complete strangers but not anymore. Waffles helped bring us together and I am ever so thankful. Now I sadly need more help, so thank you in advance!! As one new woman said earlier, (her hse was the latest sighting w video) "it takes a village" and boy was she right! She past on to all her neighbors and we've managed to reach out to a whole other neighborhood we didn't even think he could be! Thank you for taking the time to read. My number is (Susie) and my husband's is, (Moises) He IS microchipped, no collar bc he takes them off every time.

I’m not a tracker/trapper. Nor do I have your pet. I’m just passing on some well-proven advice. Here are some tips that have helped to bring lost cats home: File a lost report with animal control and check nearby shelters *in person* and often. If your cat is chipped, report it to the microchip company. Cats do not typically go far, especially those that are not used to spending time outdoors. If your cat is an indoor or an indoor/outdoor cat, look very throughly inside… EVERY nook & cranny inside the home. Always keep in mind, cats are the absolute best at Hide & Seek. Leave the opening you think they got out cracked for them to re-enter, (they’ll usually go back in the way they went out) If the cat is used to canned food opened with a can opener, use your outdoor electrical socket or an extension cord to plug in your can opener outside to “call” them to eat Put wet/smelly food out in the evening. Pick it up during the day or if you notice it's attracting strays. Put a trail of dirty litter from the box all along the edge of your yard and along tree and bush lines close by and along any trails. Do NOT put out the entire litter box outside (this may draw predators). Put out unwashed articles of their and your bedding & articles of clothing, especially those of their favorite human. You can also make "scent strips" from these unwashed items and place them in trails leading to your door or window . Go out late in the evening and in the very early morning with a flashlight… look for the glow of their eyes… under vehicles (including tire wheel wells), under porches, in sheds, storm drains & other exposed pipes, in bushes, etc. Your cat will be most active between dusk and dawn. Sit quietly while softly shaking a bag of treats and softly calling your cat's name. Make chum trails leading to your door by using a can of canned tuna in water (no oil) or canned cat food and a gallon of warm water. Shake well and sprinkle in trails leading to your door. Get fliers up right away with phone number asking for sightings and ask neighbors to check garages, under porches, etc. Post in PawBoost, Ring and Nextdoor apps. Offering an award may be helpful BUT whether offering a reward or not, WATCH OUT for scammers (they’re all over lost & found animal groups, preying on those in their most desperate times)!!! Be cautious of those that claim to have your pet but may want a 6 digit number as well as people suggesting using resources on IG and FB. One quick, simple way to find out if a person is legitimate is clicking their profile… don’t take their suggestion on a “finder” if their page is locked or they don’t have an active page. Anything that sounds too good to be true (“they found my pet immediately” or such)… it likely is. Hope this helps! Fingers crossed !🤞🤞
