Message from Owner

This cat is an unneutered male cat that I call Bernie. He is either a stray or may belong to a neighbor around Bethpage Drive/Oven Rock Road in Bethel as that is where I first saw him a year ago. He is primarily an outside cat that has been coming to my hse for a year. I have grown to love him, and I have been feeding him every day. He also came into my every night. I haven't seen him in over a week. I have put up lost poster signs in my immediate area, but no one has reached out yet. I am worried that he may be stuck in someone's grge or shed. It's possible that someone else may have him in their . He is very friendly. I'm am just hoping that someone will reach out to let me know if they have seen him as I am missing him very much, and am very worried about him.

You can purchase a trap from Tractor Supply or Home Depot or Amazon or see if you can borrow or rent one from a local rescue or TNR group. Put a piece of your clothing with your scent on it inside and some wet food and set the trap and cover it with a towel (they feel more secure hidden) and monitor it in the morning🙏❣️ remember kitties are naturally nocturnal, so they will hide during the day and move at night time looking for a food source or trying to get home. This is when most of us are sleeping. That's why the trap is ideal. Monitor it early in the morning. If you catch a critter go ahead and release it and wash the trap and reset. They leave a smell behind which may deter your baby from going in. If you catch another kitty, you can always take it to a local vet or shelter for a free chip check and you might be able to help return someone else's missing baby home.♥️

Do this ASAP. Put out items with your scent on it, like an item of dirty clothing, towel, blankets. Put vacuum dust near point of escape since It contains home scents in it. Leave out a bowl of water. (if indoor only cat, will be hiding in silence and fear, either in your yard or neighbors). DO NOT put litter box out it will attract feral cats and predators. Call as may times as possible, but night time is best because its quiet. Ask neighbors if you can check garages, sheds and under decks and their security camera recordings in the mid morning hours, since cats are more likely to come out when it's quiet during the night. Put up 11x17 poster in neighborhood. Use a flashlight at night because you will see a reflection of their eyes, look up trees and post on your local town community page and next-door neighborhood app.

Donna Werner Thank you. I put up lost cat signs with his photo in my neighborhood last Sunday, but haven't heard anything. I will put more up further away. I also called DAWS which is the local shelter and they didn't return my call. I will call them again. I will try walking around the neighborhood more.
