Katherine Grimes Crum Be sure to tell the chip company that he's missing. Also make sure your contact info is up-to-date on their website. If you haven't already, put up flyers everywhere as many people aren't on social media. Give flyers to every vet clinic, rescue, and shelter in the area in case he turns up. Having his picture in their hands will help keep him at the forefront of their minds. Try to find out from whoever adopted him to you, if he was indoor/outdoor in his previous home, and if so, the general area where he used to live (in case he tries to go back). Ask your neighbors to check their cameras, garages, sheds, and crawlspaces. Look up in trees in case he was chased. Walk the neighborhood in the wee hours with a flashlight and look for glowing eyes. Call him in a regular voice (not panicked) and gently shake a treat bag if he likes that kind of stuff. He's probably hunkered down and hiding nearby, but he may not answer you when you call - that's just instinctual, as a vocal cat gives away their location to predators. Put his beds/ blankets and some of your dirty clothes on your porches and around the perimeter of your yard. When he comes home, maybe consider building or buying a catio (some people have bought pre-made chicken coops and "attached" them to their houses with kitty access through a window); or, if you have a fenced-in yard, consider putting up cat-fencing or coyote rollers on top of the fence to keep him safely in the yard (if he keeps trying to get out). Suzy Creamcheese he is neutered and microchipped. Since we adopted him, 8 months ago he has been kept indoors. I am not sure of his history before that. He was actively trying to get outside over the last few weeks, so I am guessing he was previously allowed out.
