Gauss is missing! He's been an indoor/outdoor cat for his entire life and is very experienced outside. However, I've been having a bad feeling about his recent adventure. He was when I left the hse Tuesday night and gone when I got back (so he left between 5:30pm and 10pm) and I haven't seen him since. What makes me extra worried is that his tag pinged up by the address where I said he was last seen. I immediately drove over and started ringing it. I found his collar, opened and not broken, in someone's yard on the Northside of A St. My heart sank. If anyone spots him, he's very unique looking and looks similar to a bobcat, please let me know. I'm fearing the worst right now. I've kept wet food and dried salmon in my yard over night along with my used bed sheet for familiar smells. He's been out for a few days at a time before but never without his collar so I have extra high levels of worry. It seemed like he was moving around a bit yesterday until I found his collar. If you live or know anyone who lives in the area, could you please ask them to check in any sheds that he could be trapped in and to look under their trailer skirts and cars? Please help me bring Gauss . He's timid of people so don't chase but he's very sweet and would never attack anyone unless it was play.

Gauss is still missing. His collar was found, breakaway and opened without signs of a struggle. New posts have been made to keep him fresh in people's memories.

Also someone posted a coyote with a cat in its mouth up by your trailer court a while back. I hope you find him!

General Information: Hang clothes with your scent on it (Worn clothing from owner) high up outside so the familiar scent can travel and guide the cat back home. Ask your neighbors to check their yard/could be accidently stuck in their garage or shed. (If applicable) Check doorbell or home camera - or ask neighbors to check their camera. Post Fliers with a picture of the cat and your contact information in the area the cat went missing. Not everyone is on Social Media and posters have worked in that if spotted a location can be provided. If a cat is scared they make themselves safe by finding a good hiding spot and often times hide in silence. Look in bushes - bring a flashlight and look for shining eyes. Best time to find your cat is in the early morning hours when the noise level is low and they feel safe. Leave an access point open for the cat to return. This is important if they do come back in the middle of the night. Prayers your cat returns/ or is found safely. Beware of scammers.

Create a scent station (items with your/your cat’s smell - unwashed bedding, clothing, cat tower, etc. Especially important if cat is in new/unfamiliar area. Do NOT put out litter pan as feces often used to mark territory and may inadvertently attract predators or territorial cats.). Check it often, especially when things are quiet (late evening/early morning). Leave the garage door open 5” overnight. Check nearby Ring/security cameras in the area. Check in and under everything inside and outside with a flashlight. Cats don’t usually go far and freeze in a tight ball in very small, tight, dark areas when scared. The flashlight catches their eyes’ stare, especially at night. Thoroughly check inside your home, especially if this is a new/shy/scared pet. Post on NextDoor app as it covers your local neighborhoods. Be sure to check your local animal shelter in person at least every other day (can’t stress enough - in person!!! You know your pet best plus animals constantly brought in). If your cat is not spayed/neutered, may be why it is “lost” and traveling further. Hope your pet is home safe and soon. (Note: if anyone asks for money or a code as “they have your pet,” this is a scam). https://www.pawboost.com/blog/7-effective-search-tips-for-finding-your-lost-cat/ https://petfbi.org/i-lost-a-cat/tips-to-lure-a-cat-back-home-2/
