Message from Finder

This all black, very friendly cat came on my deck tonight looking for food and wanted to come inside. I let it inside and it (i cant tell if its male or female yet but the ear is clipped so its fixed) was very comfortable inside and not scared of my dog. There was no collar and I have not scanned for a chip yet since it was late. There are a lot of strays around this area and without a collar, it’s too hard to know a stray from an outdoor cat that has a home. If this cat belongs to someone, please let me know and please keep a collar on it so others will know. This now makes two possible strays that Im feeding and considering letting inside.

Laura Coughanour right! It’s terrible. Theres another one ive been feeding and looking after while on the waitlist for getting fixed, and now this black one is hanging out and I have a dog who’s allergic to cat dander and its so sad bc I wish I could keep them, but I cant. There are not enough people to adopt them all, its so .

Annette Stewart Same here, Im in rescue and do TNR. If the cats are friendly, we dont eartip because sometimes the owner will assume its not their cat, so we chip instead. Its bad everywhere. With so many low-cost S/N options. I dont know why more people wont fix their pets.😟

Laura Coughanour I actually work with some local rescues and would never just give a pet away without proper steps. Most rescues don’t have a facility and/or are full, so there is no “turning her over” unless someone wants to contact me an offer to foster. This cat was likely a TNR case, as several are in this area, unfortunately. My neighborhood alone has many.

Samantha Linz please turn her over to a rescue for adoption. They will throughly vet potential adopters and require and adoption fees. Because shes friendly, they will likely post her to multiple pages where her owner may look for her. Posting adoptions online, especially now, is very dangerous for cats and kittens as animal abuse videos are now a social media trend and “free to a good home” or similar ads put animals at great risk now. https://www.peta.org/issues/animal-companion-issues/animal-companion-factsheets/dangers-free-good-home-ads/ https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/30/asia/china-cat-deleters-torture-intl-hnk-dst

Annette Stewart unfortunately it wasn’t hers😔 If anyone would love to adopt a black cat, please let me know. This one has a clipped ear indicating she is fixed and vaccinated. Dog friendly.

Samantha Linz mine has been missing for over a year now in Southern Pines. He didn’t have an ear clipped at the time though. This is a picture of him.

Bryant Michael definitely! Im wondering if it has an owner though bc it seemed friendly, not even scared of my dog and familiar being inside.
